Why do people play WvWvW?
You play WvW for the kills the glory and the naked girls running through a zerg!
Commander Hammerhorn Da Great
Defender of Anvil Rock 80 Guardian / 80 Thief / 80 Warrior
I don’t play WvW for any digital reward, I play it because I’m having fun doing it, the reason why I play video games to begin with! Never got the idea about a game having to stuff a digiltal reward up my a**! If it’s fun, then I play it, if not? Then I move to another place!
WvW Roaming movies!
One of the – many – things I like in WvWvW is that it is so easy to get in to. I do not have too much time to play and need to be able to get in and get out at my one choosing. With WvWvW I just press “B”, pick a borderland and follow a fast moving green dot or seek out orange swords. Usually within minutes I am knee deep in the dead
I play it to cause trouble, and sometimes in an attempt to regain hope with my roaming Engi in a world full of Thieves, Mesmers and Elementalists. It is strictly personnal in here.
I just like to fight against other players.. tho WvW need some love
rewards are just bad for some stuff like defending or escorting dollyaks etc…
Because WvW IS THE kitten !!! , would be long gone from GW2 without this mode, also Stonemist has the Best Toilets in all of Tyria, and i love me some flushings.
You must be zerg-diving alone if it costs you more to repair than you gain from loot.
Once you realize that glasscannon builds arent really optimal in wvw, then the rewards are pretty decent. I make an avg of at least 50 silver afer repairs every time i play. I havent even began to sell the mats i salvage from pick ups. I die at least 25-30 times, mainly because I like to poke the bee nest zergs…… sometimes solo loloolol.
As for numbers deciding battles, yes and no. Yes 40+ people politely knocking on the front door to a tower will result in its fall. At the same time ive been with a pack of people 10-15 aginast 20-25 where we absolutley ripped them apart. It more about strategy and knowing when to pick fights or run. Rather then attacking head on you prolly should have a few people flank them. I play thief but before you go on a side tangent " stealth op, makes it easier for you bacon !!!!" 90% of the time i dont use stealth / blinking skills while flanking. people get so tunnel visioned while in a zerg.
Why do i love wvwvw XD the abilty to attack 40+ people in a single sitting.

NO !!!!!!!!!! by that statement you missed the first few months of wvw when escorting dolyaks was rewarding. It makes todays zerg number problem look like a golden solution. people were just zerging the caravans to their garrison not caring/playing the rest of the map to gain 1000’s of karma points per an hour.
was fun at first but now most of the time it feels like a stalemate with population pushing threw the cracks in the defense. Same scenario’s over and over even after transferring servers multiple times. Map size is the real issue people can’t move around as they please they get funneled into certain areas and have no ability to back cap or flank properly most of the time.
Camelot Unchained here is hoping a game that is entirely focused on Realm VS Realm does it right
Because I don’t benefit in any way. “Fun” is never a good enough motivator.
As a PVP oriented player who played MMOs and MOBAs since 10 years ago, i can assure you having FUN is the most important factor to play any game feature.

I can’t figure out why anybody plays WvWvW. There are no rewards, huge costs, and the outcome of all battles is determined strictly by which side happens to have the most players.
Can someone please explain what motivates people to play WvWvW?
Thank you.
Are you afraid of WWW? ^^
Because ppl in the whole World prefer to kill each other, but not stupid mobs!
Seafarer’s Rest (EU): Liicher (Engi), Lii Cher (Warrior), Swf (Elem),
Licharr (Guard), Lich Eir (Ranger), Alt Fh (Thief). Lii Cherr (Mesm), S Wf (Necr)
It’s fun and I enjoy it along with my guild, the teamwork, the tactics, the maneuvering of large armies and having everything be as perfect as possible on the battlefield is such a great thing to experience.

I wonder how some people play if they become poor only from repairing armor. do you die every 2 steps? i play almost only wvw now for some month and after each play session i have more money, not including the mats i found.

Sure. Where else can you fierecly fight a dragon for what 10-15 mins ( been a while since my last one) to obtain a glorious majestic white or blue item?!?!?!?! ….. yeah pretty much concludes that im insane
Just because your fights are determined by who has the most players, does not mean everyone plays at that level.
I wvw to fight and kill people, typically at 5x our numbers, its fun, its challenging and I am hanging out with great folks.
Because it is fun.

I play it for the multitude of stories being told. Recently I calculated that I’ll need to take 30 characters through level 30, 10 of those through level 50, and 6 of those to level 80 in order to have accomplished each of the storyline missions.
Plus, there are hundreds of dynamic events that add even more to the story. Sometimes related background info (dungeons in story mode being the most obvious example), and sometimes stand-alone.
1) World Completion
2) Gift of Battle
3) Warriors suck slightly less in WvW than in pure sPvP
Do you even lift, bro?
Well. Fun of course is a Relative Term.
What is fun for one person can be a pain for another. Case in point, I love carving wood, my wife, not so much. I mean I love the smell of sawdust, the whole creation and everything, to my wife, it’s just another way to make a mess.
Same with anything, for people who find Fun in WvW, that is enough, they enjoy it. It’s game. For those that do not like PvP or facing other players, it’s not fun.
So to say “because it’s fun” is really leaving a lot out of the equation, and for someone that does not find it fun, that answer makes even less sense.
I guess the OP is really asking.
“What makes WvWvW Fun?”
Well I’m out of words to explain that one. Anyone else want to step up and try?

Well WvWvW is, despite the following:
- having all the siege you have so perfectly placed on your T3 keep go poof when you actually need it to defend
- getting owned by invisible zergs
- tons of smaller bugs around all the maps that can be found in hundreds of topics
- siege shooting through everything
- ballista bolt not being a projectile ( seriously I can’t understand this, same goes for AC )
- lack of balance
- and much much more
still fun. Why? Teamplay. Ever thought why so many peple do raids in other games (25 or even 10 man)? Ever wondered why some guilds vanish and others keep playing? Communication. The feeling of being a part of something greater.
While this feeling is nowhere close to what WoW head, at least for me, it is still there. Even if you wake up to hear that some 2 guys took a flying omega golem and owned your keep.
I’ve felt that this game is over 2 months after it started. Yet I’m still here, alive and kickin, only because of guildmates, and people that actually do know how to play in team.
Unfortunately, tons of people who go to WWW don’t really do it for fun, but for points. If you will treat it as a score fight, you will get bored. Find yourself a team and cooperate with other teams, even on whispers. You will very shortly realize why so many people still play this, even considering the amount of fails that are around every corner.
Also, check this
It’s where the trolls and griefers are.
It’s where u play with and against other players, which for me is the reason to play a MMO, if it’s for the story i play a single player game, if it’s just for some rifraf pvp i play a shooter.
Of course if you plan to make gold WvW ain’t a viable option in this game, at least way less than dungeoning, but again i prefer to beat a team of players with my team of firends, rather than beat a team of scripted pixels.

Sure.
- It’s in game Wise – Profitable.
- It’s fast. I can do a dungeon in 15 min, or several events which can net some good loot. (I have never gotten any good loot in WvWvW)
- I can solo with ease (Mobs don’t zerg ball me, or use cheep tactics, and there is something to fight solo besides thieves and mezers)
- It’s relaxing, in PvE, I never have to worry about being gang jumped while getting vista or a Poi.
- The Best looking loot comes from PvE.
- I don’t have to deal with people complaining and blaming people if we fail taking down the dragon, or doing maw.
- I never have to worry in PvE if the mobs are going to take a chunk of my home world, they pretty much stay to their side of the map.
- If this map gets stale, I can move to another one and face entirely different opponents and not need to pay for a transfer to do so.
That is just a few, I am sure others could add many more motives and reasons.
