I’ve just recently really gotten into WvW roaming, and so far, everything has been fun. However, tonight this happened:

(This is SoS, FA, and SoR. I’m from SoS, the blue one.)

All I wanted to do was roam, win some fights, lose some fights, have fun, but there was no one out and about. Maybe a few trying to defend their garrison from our ridiculously large zerg, but that’s about it. Only other roamer I saw on an enemy world was another mesmer that, upon seeing that she had Bolt AND Bitfrost, I decided to run from.

Does this kind of thing happen a lot? I mean, it’s not like the different servers are in different time zones. Shouldn’t there be more people to deal with my server’s superzergs, or at least bless me with a good fight? It has left me feeling bummed out.

Oh, and responses of “if you want fights go to PvP” will not be appreciated. I do enough PvP and I’m doing WvW to change it up a bit.

Well some of your gigantic zerg could just transfer over to FA and it’ll be a lot more balanced.

Hmm, either they fight the blob who completely outmans them. Or they go and play on EotM where matchups are automatically far more balanced.

Well from an SoR point of view, don’t expect any fight there, in the last 3-4 days we have lost nearly all of our WvW force to TC, and the few remaining WvW guilds that are left, will probably find a new home somewhere else too, and I don’t blame them, you cannot play WvW alone its a team effort, if the team moves on you either join them or stop playing.

SoR will drop from T2 to T3 next week, and probably hover around T3-T4 for a good few months until the community rebuilds.

When the week’s winner is decided the other servers will just start going into EotM where the match ups are balanced. This will usually happen half a day after reset when it becomes apparent which server has the biggest PvD nightcapping zerg.

Less than 12 hours after reset, and already several of the NA matches are complete one-sided blow-outs.

This is what the “great new addition” of EotM has given us.

Thats an asinine aproach. EotM has given a lot of people apparently a superior experience to WvW. Because its more balanced in population, you get more even matchups.
Aswell as more interesting mechanics, while at the same time getting rid of some of the less fun mechanics.

well, its a shame sor fell apart. they were very great to fight against even when they outnumbered us like 90% of the time.

SoS is the new TC and TC is the new SoR. And we got mag buying kitten guilds too, gg balanced tier 1-3. Ironic that after that like 5+ page thread someone made about balancing the top tiers they have only become more imbalanced.

I don’t blame players for going to EotM if they find it more fun. Those decisions make perfect sense on an individual level.

But taken collectively, they are destroying WvW.

It was an extremely BAD idea for Arenanet to release EotM in its current state, complete with exaggerated rewards, before fixing regular WvW.

Wait for the SoS-Mag match-up to determine if SoS has a coverage advantage over T2 like TC did. The two servers might be balanced and maybe a few transfers to FA would make the tier completely perfect. It’s only been a week since TC left T2, let the dust settle abit before rushing to conclusions.

This week is like a 1v1 with FA since SOR isn’t playing. FA plays for fights and not ppt and doesn’t have the coverage that SoS does… that’s why the fights won’t be there 24/7. Wait for Mag to bring balance and SoR to drop and match will be fun.

SoR’s NA players collectively gave up, resulting in their Oceanic/SEA players bailing. Not sure FA had Oceanic to begin with. So yeah, SoS will PVDoor any server down during Oceanic, except for JQ. No other server has that kind of population during Oceanic

FA has Ocx and SEA yes, but not anything like SoS and Mag now. We have a great deal of all-around coverage but nothing concentrated past NA.

But OP, if you play Ocx and are on SoS, you should expect this unless you play T1. Considering SoS was able to hold in T2 with only their Ocx and SEA crew before they got transfers, of course you guys have a ridiculous advantage.

In some cases, they might as well be in different timezones because the WvWvW population reflects just that. WvWvW’s design doesn’t take today’s global gaming community into consideration and after a year, you’re going to find that some people just can’t be bothered.

Your best bet is EotM, while it’s not very roamer/small team friendly(looking at you auto turrets), it can be fun picking off small groups/stragglers, just make sure you’re mobile/sneaky enough to lose the zerg that will eventually chase you across the map.

Learn to love EotM, because it is just a matter of time before anet abandons the tier system and makes all maps work on the EotM coalition model. It solves the biggest complaint about low server populations, which are going to drop even more when ESO is released. Or maybe they’ll keep tiers 1-3 the way they are and lump everyone else into an EotM system.
