Since we jumped to tier 4 this week, I’m guessing Mag will be defending heavily all week. I’m looking forward to finding out. But yeah, it WAS reset night, so we’ll see.

Oh that sounds promising. Wish I could join you but this paywall has me stuck in T2. I used to put in the time to raise gems but its not really worth the effort anymore.

They aren’t playing caz anet kittened over small and solo player guilds with all the changes. People are kittened they can’t get a guild house without begging for others to help and even if they did manage to get a guild house upgrading it to something worth having for a small/solo player guild is beyond anything reasonable. The auto upgrades suck. The new BL maps suck and navigation is stupid difficult. BL maps feel like a pve map. They removed nodes and added these Buck Rodger synthesizers in towers which look like something from Buck Rodgers TV series. Bottom-line anet is clueless about why wvw’ers play wvw. I can understand about people complaining about rewards and wvw should have more rewards or toys that casual wvw’ers get all excited about but anet has brain-lock when it comes to wvw. In this post I mention several ways they could have added toys to the wvw environment without mucking up wvw.

Ultimately the only real answer that can be given is, the mode has lost it’s appeal and no longer enjoyable.

We can’t answer for other people, they all have different reasons but in the end it comes down to is it enjoyable ? The answer is no.

For me, I’ve been playing GW2 since Beta and have watch the mode have it’s ups and downs. I have watched players give numerous suggestions that were great, numerous suggestions that were good, and numerous suggestions that were terrible. Anet doesn’t listen, they may tell you they are but there is a large difference between reading forums and dismissing what you read and reading forums and being and active part of the discussion with your players. those of us who only play or played WvW were in those BL’s all the time, whether they like it or not we know that game mode better then they do, that’s not an insult, it’s a fact. Players do more work and brainstorming then Anet does, that is just sad.

So over the last 3.5ish years we have watched our beloved mode take a back seat to literally everything else in the game. We have had promises and excuses thrown our way, both of which were hollow. It just becomes disheartening when you’re out and out lied to.

So the announcement of HoT hits, things are finally going to shift, we were getting new maps and new spec’s and hopefully some tweaks to improve rewards and other issues that are small but seem to have a large effect on the WvW player base. Betas happened, concerns were raised, concerns were ignored. In comes HoT, our nightmare’s confirmed, the issues raised about the new BL’s were completely thrown out, why did they even bother with Beta ? Those small fixes that would have at least shown us a shred of dedication such as rewards … non existent.

That was it for me, they are either incompetent and simply not capable of supporting a game mode such as WvW or their ego’s have grown far to large. I believe it’s the latter, if it’s not their idea it’s not a good idea, if it didn’t come from the office of Anet, it didn’t happen. They are willing to throw away a niche market that they had cornered because of their ego’s.

I for one have supported this mentality for long enough. Let me be perfectly clear, the WvW forums and the toxicity that they harbor are a direct result of Anets failure to listen, respond, and work with the community.

TLDR;
The game mode has become boring due to lack of attention.
I stopped playing because I refuse to help inflate their ego’s and watch them destroy what I loved.

And for you Anet, be humble, you do need the players help, you do need to acknowledge your players, you do need to respond to post and most of all you do need to listen even when it’s what you do not want to hear.

GL in the future, maybe I’ll be back if things improve.

I mostly play for the new Free-For-All arena in PvP lobby.

I can only speak for myself. I play wvw about 1/2 as much as pre hot.

  1. reason is the fact my wxp earned is useless. I have maxed the current tracks (wasn’t maxed pre hot) and the points do nothing for any sort of mastery. Who in their right mind thought this was a good idea? Don’t know about others, but I am not maxed mastery wise in the other game modes….
  2. EBG was queued to the hilt until recently and BLs are just not my cup of tea…..

The problem is that the WvW lead at ANET is stubborn. During beta, people didn’t enjoy playing the maps. That feedback was given. ANET chose to ignore it.

I really don’t understand why it is hard to find some leadership at ANET.

They were told this before Beta.. EoTM is the testing ground for wvw.. That never changed. They were told what they were testing wasn’t what WvW players wanted and chose not to listen to that either. EoTM is the future of WvW.. they haven’t tested anything else yet.. so what you see is what you get.

Just look at what they included from EoTm in the Dbls..
Treacherous heights and traps? Gimmicky PvE nonsense? Annoying Environmental garbage? Yup.. it is all there.. Look at what else is in EoTM to become more disappointed with what is to come to WvW.

No one is playing because Anet didn’t listen to them.

Just watch what happens if they replace EB with a more gimmicky map.. Which I am sure is probably what they had planned. R.I.P

Finally broke down and tried to get that WvW spoon for my collection. Man, it was Tumbleweed City. Really surprised at how deserted the map was. Guess people weren’t exaggerating.

So i did go to the dessert map today to the commander tag we were FIVE people !
all the other borders was dead all we did was run back and fourth to do supplyruns.
there was literally NO enemies around we capped one tower then i was bored already.
WHY is nobody playing? I know you cant claim towers for some reason anymore
is that why ? else why not ? the maps are pretty.

-too much vertical, too many jumping puzzles, bad fighting environment
-takes too long to get to places because of too much vertical and too many jumping puzzles in the way, even after you learn the map by the time you get to the fight its over more often then not.
-attacker waypoints too close to their spawn while defender waypoints too far from their spawn thus favoring offense over defense
-have to leave WVW to get hero points
-have to leave WVW to get good loot to afford to play WVW
-have to leave WVW to get guild hall upgrades because of the abysmal rate you get the necessary components in WVW
-PVE event is way too big with its effects too “out of whack”
-map favors blobbing instead of breaking apart blobs as it was supposed to
-desert map, personally i just hate deserts as do many players, prefer forest or rolling green hills type environments
-small guilds stopped playing completely because of guild hall upgrade issues, thus overall less people in wvw, this map especially because its where these upgrades actually mattered the most, which is home BL defense
-pointless to hold camps or escort yaks, 100x better to cap and move on, thus avoiding any contact with opposition
-all towers are irrelevant to hold from strategic / tactical stand point

these are just some of the reasons off the top of my head, but not all, there are many more, i recommend you get on your server voice coms and ask there, you’ll be enlightened.

I was not a fan of Alpine but this new map is a disaster. There is very little about it that generates more fighting except the center PvE event which might be fun if people wanted to be on the map and it didn’t lag the entire map when more than 20 people were in it.

Add in the horrible guild changes and taking away of previously earned content. Mix in a dash of supply/siege changes that make small teams less effective and you land where we are today.
