WvW Alpine or Desert if Base Map Rebooted
Swapping in, out or mixing maps is possible with this New Base Map Mechanic.
Only ANet would know the answer to how much development this would entail, and if it would be feasible.

Suggested Combinations or Map Rotations:
1) Three Alpine Borderland Maps + EB / Simple Event / Manual Upgrades
2) Two Borderland Maps + EotM
3) Alpine + reworked EB + Desert / No Laser / No Auto-Upgrade
4) Alpine + reworked 1/2 Desert + reworked EotM
5) Original Alpine borderland with lake + Eternal Battlegrounds
6) Fixed new map (less complex) + EB + Old map without lake no EotM

I’ll be honest…I prefer the Old Alpine Borderland. New Desert Borderland seems to need a higher number of players in my opinion to reach a critical mass before the fun begins.
I have to agree with the below idea from xaiMera.
Anet should just bring back old wvw and put the new one on public beta again, that way they can test and implement suggestions and hopefully fix all it’s issues.
1) Put the Old Alpine back. Attract the old WvW veterans back into playing.
2) Put the New Desert BL into Public Beta.
3) Implement a Reboot of Base Map Mechanic & Population using the Public Beta.
4) Work out problems while WvW population level stabilizes & hopefully go back up.
5) Allow WvW population to leave Old Alpine Map and play more in Public Beta.
Please make Desert BL more simple.
1) Re-do & remove Vertical structures…put in ramps.
2) Remove PvE Center Event…put back Ruins, or use a less battle changing event…that uses minimal client AND server resources.
3) Make Upgrades Manual & Free for players on their Home Globe 3 BLs. Enemies need to pay Gold to Manual Upgrade on your Home Globe’s 3 BLs. Everybody pays Gold to Manual Upgrade on their EB Map.

I’d like to see the amount of maps available reduced to two per match, maybe even one. Also, EoTM added to the rotation. Give the losing server the natural home, doesn’t have to be balanced.. Matches aren’t balanced, why not give a boost to the loser from last week? It works for professional sports, loser gets first pick in the draft.
Help out balance a bit, gives variety, less empty maps.

I would like three diffent borderlands for diversity and droping EB.
Alpine, Desert and EB. For that EB has to be adapted as homeland and Dersert reworked without Laser and less PvE gimiks. Of course no autoupgrade.

It’s actually explained in the Core Map Mechanic of the Parent Proposal. The maps need to be used how they’re currently configured…4 Maps.
3 Borderland Maps & 1 Eternal Battle Ground.
Reason – Trying to reduce the development on changing in or out different maps.

I’m not a fan of megaserver, no matter how camouflaged. My wife and I move our guild routinely to the different communities on offer, they are different as you move about. Some people say it’s not so, but we’re small enough that we always need to interact with the native population. And I can tell you first hand every tier has it’s own flavor, the differences may be small but they exist.. It helps keep things fresh.
Being forced into a single population would remove this option and homogenize the gw2 population, the only option to get a fresh breath of air would be moving to the EU or CN servers. Not to mention moving around gives Anet money, which is a good thing. Devs gotta eat too.

Definitly not good to fill servers till maps burst, so there are always large groups runing around.
If megaserver supresses roaming and small groups with high population that you can´t run around with a few friends annymore WvW will be killed again …. So its not easy.
If population is an issue don´t use megaservers. Merge EU and NA servers so population divides trough timezones. Maybe a huge relaunch.
Give a free server move. Open 10 new tiers. Give some time for players to select a new home. On Day X divide all guilds/players left on the new servers and mix EU/NA.
An don´t name the new servers NA or EU or FR ….

I think you’re misunderstanding how the Parent Topic Mechanics works.
Let me make it very clear.
The Parent proposal found in “Reboot the Base Map Mechanic & Population” Topic…Does NOT in any way…allow Megaserver.
The New Base Map Mechanic that is being proposed will not work with the Megaserver at all.
The Parent Proposal still seeks to Preserve Server Pride by transforming Old World Servers into New Globes. Server names are retained when setting up the New Globes.
Megaserver system picks which instance you spawn with friends & family from what I understand.
How the New Map Mechanic Works from a player’s point of view. Keep in mind that a Megaserver System picks the instance you spawn in.
Given the following choices…Would you prefer to:
A) Fight against 2 Worlds that the System Picks for you at the beginning of every week.
Or
B) Fight against 2 Worlds that you choose at the beginning of every week from a choice of 24 NA - and - 27 EU Home Globes.
Option A = Current Map Mechanic
Option B = Proposed New Map Mechanic & Global Theaters of War
The proposed New Map Mechanic & Global Theaters of War will let you play with friends & family.
If you’re in a different Home Globe away from your friends & family…then just pick an Enemy Globe that you both can meet on then team-up & fight together there.
This New Base Map Mechanic will not work with the Megaserver system at all. Players pick where they want to go. The system does not pick the instance that you spawn in.

Allow WvW to craft PvE equipment.
Do Not Allow PvP Standardized Equipment into WvW.
Create Exclusive WvW Ascended PvE Equipment to Craft.
Many other things could be tied to WvW directly that would require materials & resources that can be purchased for gold.
Gems are traded for gold by the Trader.

That’s not the revenue I mean.
Arenanet is a business, it exists is a capitalist system. Before anything else, the bills must be paid. The best way to ensure continued development for WvW is Anet’s bean-counters seeing money come from WvW.

Puh. It looks too complicated… I prefer a solution that can be described in two understandable sentences that everyone understands. The long specification is for the devs.
A stable home identity is good. Please no floating WvW and free transfers like candy.
And i prefer difrent maps for each server. Alpine + reworked EB + Desert.
