Just watched JC on the Guild Chat. Didn’t catch all of it, but he did say banners were being nerfed, not removed.

Whether this is read or not, I guess I’ll add my 2 cents.

As a leader of a WvW/GvG guild, activity and interest in this game is currently at an all-time low.

My guild has always been more interested in a skillful style of gameplay, meaning we run the standard gvg size of 15-20. In the past, this was enough to go up against groups of 40+ and still have a reasonable chance of victory. It took good reaction time, good coordination, and good commanding, but there was always a chance. Since large guild have started unlocking the War Room upgrades (Banners, Airships, the usual) winning these type of fights is basically impossible. 2-3 people running Dragon Banners (which we have come across) make it so that the 15-20 will never beat the larger group. Avoiding the regular bomb (Necro Wells dropped at the same time, DH traps, etc) is challenging enough for 15-20 vs 40, now throw in 2-3 Dragon Banners with massive aoe, range, and damage, and you see that your skill group stands no chance. If you avoid the regular bomb, you still have to worry about the Banners, and you may not have enough to avoid all of them by the time they hit, or vice versa, you avoid the Banners but then get stuck in the regular bomb. Stability was nerfed and is basically worthless now with all the CCs that a 40+ sized group can output, so microplay and proper skill usage becomes key, but you do not have infinite dodges/skills, so you WILL get caught. This basically means that you just end up getting run over, again and again. And this is not fun.

People have posted the new, upcoming WvW patch notes, and while they are a step in the right direction, they may be too late. I’ve heard that the earliest these things can be implemented is mid/late 2016. For many guilds, this is too late. When you release this patch, you will be releasing it to the handful of players left that even go in to WvW. There are a slew of other games coming out that are already attracting our attention, and my guild is already getting started in one of them. Action needs to be taken sooner rather than later.

I started playing GW2 when it first came out. I’ve almost exclusively played WvW ever since I started. I do not wish to move to another game, but if WvW dies, I will have no choice. I want Anet to succeed in this endeavor, I really do. Listen to your community on this, Anet, or you soon will find yourselves without one. At least for WvW.
