too much lag
+1 and Please. I’m not sure what is happening, or what has changed, but I’ve gone thru my rig, settings, and this is the only game mode being stifled with lag. A attack perhaps? any answer would be appreciated.

INC lag fix to WvW a la anet style…
Cannons that 1 shot zergs across the map.
No zerg, no lag :}
I guess this is what happens when you don’t optimize a game and use a weird custom engine based on direct x 9. Even recent computers with i7 still struggle. It has nothing to do with your system or internet. it’s how the game was made and the lack of ’’WORK’’ after it was released to make sure it follows the newer standards with modern pcs
I don’t think it will ever be fixed. If it’s any consolation, after a couple hundred hours you do get used to it. On guardian when it won’t let me swap weapons, I just auto chain on staff and spam stab off cd, eventually it will pop and other than that I just focus on positioning.
It’s a fairly garbage situation, but at least the other servers are in the same boat.
They must do something, as a commander, I hate losing people because they can’t play because while we engage; the game stalls. when we think we are still fighting but the engage ended 30s ago and like a fast forward, the game catches up and everyone is either alive or dead.

Is there an e-sport tournament or spvp thing on? If the answer is yes, then expect lag in wvw.
They devote more resources to spvp during those times, which leaves less for wvw to run in, hence the lag.
Wait until next expantion where more aoe, more condi and boons stacking and easy spam skill will increase the lag…
The lag generally isn’t from poor server architecture or client side design. Lag in most MMOs is from handling the network load. Because GW2 has a tremendous amount of AoE and cascading triggers, the number of players attacking in an area before lag sets in is fairly limited. Better than most MMOs but still limited.
Unless they redesign the amount of AoE and reduce the amount of passive build triggers, it is unlikely anything else will significantly reduce player lag. Sure they could prioritize the packeting system a bit better but that might cause more hacking. They might be able to upgrade their server architecture but it would be a minor upgrade in performance most likely. A full rescale on a grid system might be possible but typically that has to be engineered up front and can be nearly impossible to convert to after a system is in place.
Basically the likely only way to “fix” or rather improve the lag significantly is to completely redesign the skills and traits of the game. The AoE cap was a stop-gap but ultimately in GW3 (if that happens with WvW) my guess is AoE will be much more limited as will passive triggers from traits.

dude, kitten is lagging at 4am with no blob/zerg on the map… its definitely something kitteny on their side
For some strange reason, my pings are finally normal to the server now (210-230ms) but the lag spikes are still present (600-4k) so I don’t think much changed at all heh.
