Before you invest your votes, I’d like you to remind that all of the Living Story mini-dungeons we got so far had a strong robot/golem presence, in short a sci-fi theme, to them. Thaumanova will be just the same – more golems cat-eared or not, automated security systems, complicated control consoles, hi-fi speaker systems, power fluxes and of course a crapton of Inquest goons.
Yawn.
Unless they dramatically deviate from the angle everyone’s (yes, Mr/Ms Writer, your job is already done) expecting and actually don’t make the whole thing about an experiment on dragon magic gone horribly wrong, this is exactly what we’ll get.
Inquest as enemies and thus robots is already confirmed unfortunately, but for example, it would be a exponentially more interesting backstory if the power that was being harnessed there wasn’t dragon sourced, but somehow connected to the former, Aztec-themed inhabitants of the general location, that I can imagine have been expunged from the canon long ago, together with non-white Krytans and Canthans (before the outcry) due to too great cultural diversity. Or the Mursaat or the Forgotten or something entirely new.

This considered I favor the Fall of Abaddon. Why? Because this will be one of the few opportunities we’ll have in GW2 to revisit “pure” GW1 lore. No dragons, no nothing from the last 250 years. Just straight up an episode that would feel very much at home in the original GW trilogy. (Unless the newly hired writers adorn the backstory with their own fanon, as in that the events were somehow dragon related)

Does anyone really enjoy either the Crucible of Eternity or the Mad Asura fractal? Because I’m quite sure it’ll mostly just be more of that in the Thaumanova Reactor.

In the Abbadon fractal we are likely to get human and mutated margonites, the Forgotten and possibly Abbadon in full form + other gods.

That is nothing we have seen imagined the GW2 engine using GW2 combat mechanics. We have no idea what the Human Margonite army looks like at all actually. Not even concept art exists. We also have never seen the Crystal Sea environment. Again not even concept art exists.

In the Thaumanova fractal, it’ll likely be Inquest/Golems and possibly some corrupted minions. All of which we have already fought. And the map will most likely be a touched up Thaumanova but pretty much nothing new.

Vote Evon for fresh content!

Wow, you must show me this time travel device which you used to know the fractals that are to come out.

Also, the margonites are still humans during the Fall of Abbadon.

If you lack any ability for critical thinking, then you have a big problem.
I don’t need a time machine to know that any particular person was born from a mother and father and will eventually grow old and die.

That is incorrect, we know Lord Jadoth was at least transformed prior to Abbadon’s fall and possibly others.

Also nobody knows anything for sure about the future…. but I am probably right xD

Oh look at all the people that have already convinced themselves that the fall of abaddon fractal will be infinitely better than the thaumanova reactor fractal. Even if the devs who came up with both the ideas are more excited about what the thaumanova fractal would be.

Personally, I’m way tired of Asurans.

It’s same universe though.

Also it is not just about plot points, it is also about a fresh experience.

A new map with a new environment and new enemies with new abilities versus old stuff.

I am sure Anet will do their best no matter what wins, but it is unrealistic to think they will create a bunch of new enemies and a new map when the description does not call for it.

Get lore. xD

Lord Jadoth, also referred to as The General, was once a human Margonite alive before the Exodus of the Gods. For unknown reasons, he was hunted down by the Forgotten and exiled to the Crystal Sea. During his exile, when the Forgotten’s armada approached his refuge, he called upon Abaddon for salvation and became the first Margonite blessed with magic by Abaddon in 1 BE.

Before the Exodus of the Gods, the Margonites were a seafaring people who chose to worship Abaddon exclusively, rather than all six gods.
——-
In Year 0, they were imprisoned in the Realm of Torment along with their god, the defiled temple, and all other traces of Abaddon. Since that time
their constant exposure to Abaddon’s power has transformed them into the demons encountered in Elona.

So no, Jadoth isn’t a demon during the fall of abbadon, he’s simply an empowered Margonite (think Claw of Jormag but instead of having Abbadon create Jadoth, Abbadon infused Jadoth).

And stating that “nobody knows what will happen so I am right” is such a huge logical fallacy that we might as well say that the Thaumanova Fractal involves all the remaining Elder Dragons because…

nobody knows anything for sure about the future…. but I am probably right xD

We saw that Abbadon’s power slowly warped Varesh over the course of Nightfall, a few weeks probably.

One year could have been more than enough time to transform Jadoth and perhaps some other followers, if Varesh is an example.

Either way they will have to make new enemies. Human Margonites would still need a new theme for their own attire and attacks. Inquest and Golems.. not so much.

This is a new age in the GW story. Voting for Abbadon is living in the past.

GW2 lore needs new current lore. The reactor rift is still active so a fractal based on it’s explosion is relevant to present game events.

But they might be corrupted in the events that took place before year 0. And we will never know about it if we do not choose the abaddon fractal.

I’m pretty confident that, regardless of the outcome of the vote, we’ll end up getting both of the fractals being dangled in front of us eventually. They would not have offered either of them as a reward if they didn’t have an interest in telling those stories.

Understanding that, basing your entire vote off which fractal you’d prefer to see sooner rather than later is probably silly.

Honestly I could care less which fractal comes out of it. both are interesting and I like to imagine research on whichever fractal will somehow influence the world. For instance, we might find out the thaumanova reactor still isn’t safe, or Evon might catch a hint about margonite ships and suddenly we’ll be sailing all over the place with exploding reactors and/or crazy ships that can get us places we haven’t gone before.

We might not get both fractals, but in the end, we can always read about what we don’t get.

My reason for voting for Evon is simple; He makes me smile, with his witty/snide comments and his nigh-on sadistic ways (popping Karka on a bunch of people he crammed onto an island? oii!). Because voting for politicians who put themselves ahead of the people they represent has been working out so well for us in real life. I know when I look towards Congress, I’m thinking “Wheee! Fun stuff!”.

Let’s get some of that into our gaming too!

Actually, issues and puzzles to solve are exactly what you want in your gaming experience ^^ It would be very boring if you logged in one day and found Kiel had solved all your problems for you, save the one where there’s still 5 dragons. But you need to wait at least another year for that expansion to come out.

Besides, there’s a difference between Charr morality and Human morality. Evon might think of his own benefits first, but I doubt he’d actually do much to kill off his customers. It would ruin his business.

I prefer to have adventures that center around the truly epic threats, rather than be sidetracked by missions that deal with cleaning up political messes and investigating corruption in the political system. Seriously, we get enough of the latter in real life and not enough of the former. I don’t need to see art mirroring life in my game too.

You’ll get plenty of both regardless of who wins, including the political ones. We know hardly anything of Magnus but that’s who put Kiel forward. how much has truly been epic the last year? With Kiel constantly telling us to solve her issues? It will be no different. Now Evon is the kind that is likely to cause real epic issues say, by importing a box of corrupted Istani Djinns. Remember what a pain they were without being corrupt on top? Yeah… chuckle Besides, whoever wins is like 1 in what.. 10? votes on the counsel? Actually might as well vote Kiel so she’ll be too busy to be in our way and bore us to death. Leave Evon to make worse trouble for lack of occupation besides striking shady deals =)

I disagree. With Kiel at the helm our upcoming adventures are likely to focus on external threats. She’s a soldier, and her eye (and stories) will be aimed at real targets and larger threats, rather than self-made ones.

With Gnashblade, there’s no doubt in my mind that story (and our time, and development time) is going to be “wasted” on his political ambition and schemes. What do I care of the Black Lion Trading Company and its interests? I had enough of that type of “adventure” with Minister Caudecus.. which, frankly, really wasn’t all that exciting the first time around.

As for Magnus the Bloody-Handed.. I disagree about hardly knowing anything about him. Then again, I’ve been following the novels. If you haven’t then he might seem like a stranger to you.

I have, in fact, read edge of destiny, but it seems to me he had ample reason to act nice and amiable. Don’t presume you know a person off one account. Also, you don’t have to do what someone tells you, unless you’re a sucker for achievements, like me. We all understand that Evon wants to infiltrate the counsel for his legion. Now, I can’t pretend to know Malice Swordshadow but the Ash way is, to me, the most appealing way =)

I think voting Kiel will lead us down a very predictable path of “pursuit of evil in the name of justice” flavored story.

Evon is a volatile character that seems to be for the most part unpredictable. Who knows what shady and mysterious situations he can get us into that will be breath of air from the dragon hunting that we know is going to happen anyway?

Also, who is to say that Evon doesn’t have some mischieveious plan to set in motion if Kiel does win? I can’t imagine Evon sitting back and taking a loss like a champ.

It will be interesting to see the road paved from this entire event, not just the outcome.
