Difficult Gauntlet Achievements
For Blobs, I suggest going with a single target weapon and push/pull skills. Attack Subject 7 as oozes spawn, then push him away from the rest of the oozes and continue attacking. Once he gets low enough in health, switch to a high DPS weapon and burst him down. For example, on a Warrior, try bringing a Rifle and Kick. Use Rifle Butt and Kick to move him around.
I also did High Stakes Gambler on Subject 7. I used a MM necro build and some Mango Pies for extra health regen. It basically boils down to an attrition contest between you and him; use your minions and Death Shroud to soak up damage as much as possible while wearing him down.
Still working on Light Up the Darkness myself, so no advice for you there.
Thanks for the tips! Unfortunately, necro is the only class I haven’t leveled to 80. As for Liadri, I’m still trying to figure out whats the best strategy. It only took me 3 tries to kill her the first time, however ever since I haven’t been close. Was wondering why people hated Liadri after my first kill, now I know.
As for Liadri, you can find some guides from 9months ago that seem to still apply, but i don’t think that you were timed then. Honestly, i think it’s just a matter of avoidance and dps for her.
there is a guide from dulfy last year for all the gauntlet acheives, though a few things have been changed
http://dulfy.net/2013/08/06/gw2-the-queens-gauntlet-achievement-guide/
The blobs seem to be different than last year. Banged my head against this one for a few hours yesterday, trying to do it exactly like in a video from last year, no joy. But I notice in the video the blobs spawn differently than they do for me. Avoiding to dulfy’s guide they spawn around the player and minions (and I can see this in last year’s video), but for me they cluster around the big ooze no matter where I stand and whether I have minions or not.
I’m actually working on ‘Blobs, Schmobs’ as well. I didn’t do the pavilion last year but judging by the video it looks like it was a lot different. The adds spawn on the boss instead of on the PC.
I find that when I take my time on it, the boss ends up outhealing. If I go for about 75% and then rush to kill, I end up killing adds. Has anyone come up with a good way to do this?
Subject 7 was really difficult. I just did it as a berserk ranger. I used longbow, Water spirit, signet of stone, signet of the wild, frost spirit and spirit of nature. Just keep attacking the boss with 2 and push him back with 4, and dodge if you can. I also used the spider pet (can’t remember the name, sorry) to reduce healing on the subject 7 by 33%. It’s a really difficult fight but you can do it, just don’t give up and you will get both achievements.
P.S.: Use 3 if you need a few seconds to regenerate some health and don’t summon Spirit of Nature right at the start, wait about 10-15 seconds.

What are people doing for Humble Victor?
I burned most of my tickets on 8-orb Liadri so I don’t have much left to keep experimenting with.

I used a zerker warrior. Rifle with sigil of accuracy + air, piercing trait to make sure you keep hitting boss (strafe if you’re piercing adds). Just use 1-4 rotation, and finish with kill shot. I don’t think I even ended up switching to sword/final thrust for the last bit.
to be faceroll at the high levels, because it
needs to be accessible to the casuals and bads.

Zerker-MM with D/F and Staff ob Subject 7, easy going.

If that was @me for Humble Victor, necro is one of the classes I don’t have to level 80
I can run just about any setup on warrior/guardian, and most DPS setups on ele/mesmer/ranger.

blobs, schombs I did on warrior pure rifle, just ran around while shooting. Try the f1 skill near the end, did like 20% of his HP in one go.
High stakes gambler I did on subject 7 as well. Just don’t take squeamish because you’ll need the DPS. Did it on both guardian and warrior.
For warrior I did it quite fast. Used first 6/6 traits as in the meta GS build and put the last 2 in defense for surefooted. DPSed him till my adrenaline bar is full then on my mark, frenzy and endure pain at the same time. Once EP is over used defiant stance and it was dead. Pretty sure it took only 10 sec.
For guardian, full DPS. GS + hammer. I used wall of reflection first in the middle till like 40% then banish away from the oozes, sanctuary and further DPSed him down. Bring Shield of the avenger as well to be sure you don’t get damage. Also since I had 10k HP I found he doesn’t hit you at max melee range so you can keep up the scholar rune boost for quite some time.
Liadri is just practice tbh. Learn where the light spots are and keep trying. You’ll get there eventually.
Hey I’m back, finished Blobs, Schmobs and High Stakes Gambler. Just posting strategies I used and sort of worked for me.
For Blows, Schmobs, I used Warrior rifle and sword/shield. I did not run around in circles, but I stayed far away and strafed side to side quickly, by holding down my left strafe key and quickly tapping my right strafe key. This way the AI has a very low chance to hit you. At 30% hp I popped Endure Pain, used Killshot, knocked ooze to the back and then finished off with my sword/shield.
For High Stakes Gambler I used my thief with sword/pistol on Deadeye Dunwell and pretty much spammed pistol whip. At the start I’d use steal to teleport to him, let him attack me first and then pistol whip to interrupt. After the first interrupt I used Thieves Guild and continued to spam pistol whip. If he teleported away I’d shadowstep to him or if he was charging up his shot I’d use Scorpion Wire to interrupt and pull him back.

Thanks for this, had to play around with traits a bit but got it on the 4th try. Ended up with 4/6/4/0/0 with the invigorating precision trait an absolute must. Also used leeching venoms and other venom traits, with skills scorpion wire, skale venom (triggered first time just after the “your turn” message), and infiltrator’s signet for the shadow step. Went beautifully, felt like a completely unfair fight. Got 5 Gambit and Humble Victor out of it.
Now I just need 8 orb and meatless murder… aaaah maybe next year.
For blobs schmobs, I just conditioned the hell out of him on my necro. Had one pet out, shadow fiend for blinds, if I had the flesh golem he would have died faster. I ran scepter dagger. Enfeebled him, bled him with grasping dead, signet of spite, and blood is power then finished him off with feasting corruption while scepter ate away.
