How to pronounce Tequatl
This is how I say it
another-world-boss.
Actually, the spelling and pronunciation remind me of the Mayans.
But we just call him tequila sunrise.

Listen to the NPCs around where the boss occurs. They pronounce it a few times, especially when Tequatl rises.
Teh (soft e, not hard e like OP)-Kuah-Tell
And as Quartktastic said, the hylek names are based off mesoamerican (not just Mayan, but Incan and Aztec too) naming systems. Tequatl as well.
Fun fact: Tequatl in hylek means “One in the Darkness” iirc; “the Sunless” is the hylek name for Risen. In other words his name basically means “Risen One in the Darkness”
Stop treating GW2 as a single story. Each Season and expansion should be their own story.

Taco the Sauceless!
Joke aside, nice post. I found his name impossible to pronounce until I heard his name instead of reading it. ^^
But we just call him tequila sunrise.
Tequila works… well after players try him with the new difficultly I think more than a few are going to drown their tears in tequila.

Tea Kettle.
The dragon word bosses are Tequila, Shatner, and Jori. Doesn’t matter what ANet thinks they should be called.

Taco Grande!
Or Ta-quat-till.
Tea-Kwat-ill is how I say it.
Though I just call him Tiki for short. Good ol’ Tiki.
I say it like this Tea q’Kettle
I just call him Risen Bubbles for short.
Fun fact: Tequatl in hylek means “One in the Darkness” iirc; “the Sunless” is the hylek name for Risen. In other words his name basically means “Risen One in the Darkness”
Hm… what’s more risen than risen? Maybe he’s fermenting or something in this update.
for our guild, we just call him teq
They say his name when he spawns…
There’s something in the water….. help!
Brothers, Sisters, ready yourselves. Tequatl is here.
It’s coming!
It’s about to fart, stay out of it’s way.
It’s pronounced:
TeqLOOTle, the Lootless.
Because we’ve been beating the crap out of that kitten dragon and taking it’s loot every 18 hours or so for over a year now.
Tea Kettle.
Personally I’d say The Kettle but we’re in the same line of beverage heaters.
Until I heard it, I was thinking “tehCOTTuhl”.

The only problem with that is that it doesn’t make sense given how mesoamerican words are pronounced.
It oughta be Te-kah-tull so far as I understand, for the same reason you wouldn’t say Kweh-tzull-kwah-tull for Quetzacoatl.
It sounds to me like they inspired in old aztec (or mayans as someone said, i am not that expert) language and names. Use its pronounce.
I dont know what is your native language and if its english (i suppose from how you showed us your pronouncing) it is hard to write becouse english is absolutely diferent.
For example E is totaly different then in english alphabet.
Like some said word tequila could help to get a picture :-D
,,Te.." is same, but without that hard english T. English natives always use too strong emphasis on T, D, G, K…as first letter, when prenouncing words they dont know.
Edit:
I found video where you can hear it many times. Good prenounce, but that english TTTTTT…:-D

“Who’s Ted?”- “Ted’s dead, baby. Ted’s dead.”

I keep calling him Tequila. Her. It. Whatever.

The Hylek names are Mesoamerican inspired, but not actually Mesoamerican. Therefore, Hylek names may not necessarily have the same pronunciation as Mesoamerican words.
The pronunciation in the game (Teh-quah-tul) is the intended pronunciation of the name by the devs and is therefore the proper pronunciation of the name.
It’s kind of like what you saw with Avatar: The Last Airbender. While the names were Asian inspired, they did not necessarily have the same pronunciations as Asian names/words because they were not actually Asian. This was intentional by the creators and the names in the series are the proper pronunciations of the names. Then when someone like M. Night Shyamalan comes in and changes up how the names are pronounced in “The Last Airbender” movie because “that’s how Asian names are actually pronounced,” the fans threw a fit because the names in the movie were NOT the names of the well-loved characters (It’s pronounced “Ayng,” not “Ahng” Shyamalan!).

What’s potatoes precious?
I pronounce is “Teh-kah-tle”
But mostly I refer to him as Tequila the Sunrise :P
Its supposed to be some pseudo nahuatl from central mexico. Te means someone and cuatl is a misspelling of coatl which means snake, so its pretty much untranslatable, as for pronunciation, it would be two syllables: Te and Coatl, pronounce Te as in tequila or tecate, and coatl as ko???t?l

Ree pronounced it with a p (despite it not being there) before the game was released. I assume he wasn’t called Teqpuatl at some point, but maybe he was.
I call him Tequila, though, like a lot of people.
I dunno, considering it’s a Hylek word, there’s no way it’s pronounced the way you’re all saying.
Not a chance the Hylek are making those hard T and K sounds with those big frog mouths. It might be spelled that way, but phonetically it’s -gotta- sound different.

18 hours? o.O
the npc’s say tuk-wah-tul
Te’Quatl
Pronounced: Tah’ – Qwah – Tole
There’s a definite space between the TE and the QUATL, and it should be acknowledged as such. The TL has an invisible “O” sound made with your mouth as you pronounce them together to get the “tole” that I’d mentioned above without it really being there.
In our guild we just call those 3 dragons: shaq, frog, ice
I dont know why Tequilla is frog, but somehow it sound just right for us. And those are translations, in czech it sounds more different
lucky for me, i come from a place where words are pronounced and spelled the way they are written
unlike english where they’re written one way, pronounced another, and spelled a third, i just read things the way they’re written…
kat tru d wuords sou tu spik
cut through the words so to speak
