When I join this game I tought Black Citadel (charr home town in gw2) its a ruin but after watching some movies and read a bit I see its a fairly new place build in top of Human capital city, but….
It will ever be completed? Looks like a skeleton and scaffolds so far and in last year of playing it did not changed (look at the picture). Put come city planers to work, get some civil engenieers for kitten . Where is all the industry what charrs are so proud of? Thowse in Black Citatel are hardly little workshops there :P
One sugestion I can make is making a Game Wide Quest, like players from all the servers donating (for karma/laureals/tockens) an insanely amount of every metal and when its completed will be a new patch with a shiny new black citadel plus a reason for another celebration every year.
this will help the economy, we (charrs) will have a headquarters to be proud of. plus whet ever black citadel festival Anet will make.
So ANet, any chances?

The legions would ensure you an unlimited supply of ectoplasmic test subjects for one. They could give you other things you want if you help them finish their city.
You make sure the legion dont invade RataSum, dismantle it, melt your golems and rebuild our citadel. Humans tought the wall make them invincible… they where wrong. Asura dont make same mistakes.
But most serious I seen in another mmo this, devs made a tower and they made this quest where players need to donate materials. Only when the set amount was achived they release new content

I’d argue that it is completed, that’s just the aesthetics of the charr. To have something that’s more bare bones but solid of a structure than something that’s all pretty looking.

I would agree with Konig, because according to the timeline we are given the Iron Legion started building the Black Citadel around 1112 AE, with current day being 1326 AE. This means the Black Citadel was started 214 years ago, I’m pretty sure much of it is completed.

So it is like the second death star. It’s finished but it looks like it’s not.
Um… there is very much such thing. And the exterior aesthetic of a military command structure is hardly a pressing concern for “the industry that charr are so proud of.”

There’s probably also a certain element that in some ways, the charr desire to show their new technological acumen has overwhelmed their common sense. Iron and steel left exposed to the elements will rust given enough time regardless of protections that fall short of ‘cover it with something that doesn’t rust’ – that’s why you rarely see steel facings on buildings in real life (metal facings are usually alumunium, which if the charr have access to at all, it won’t be at the scale used for the Black Citadel’s construction). All that metal in the Black Citadel probably needs to be replaced every few decades, so the ‘unfinished’ look may be a result of needing to inspect and, when necessary, replace the outside of each building on a regular basis.

I would say more, since Black Citadel is the Iron Legion HQ, it doesn’t look unfinished but it is constantly growing, they are always making new improvements, always looking towards efficiency and not aesthetic.
I can’t wait to see the “Blood Citadel” and the “Ash Citadel” .

Well there is several reasons combined with erchoter that makes this impossibole unforunatly. you will need atleast a living story patch to evolve such, you cant just evolve somthing and it can probiliary create isssues with PS. and it aint intresting enough to be a living story patch even as there is no fighting in the black citadel but the bane no enemy has even a little chance of getting inside the black citadel unnoticed only really few lorewise could be able to do so, caithe and player thieves everyone else has no chance which means they couldnt bring in someone which tried to stop it —> No action —> no LS patch.

you are to indoctrincated by the living patch already, if you dont have a zerg farming fest is not worth it, things can evolve naturaly without any need for enemys inside somewhere for us to kill.
fyi EVERY thing in this living story it evolve out of nothing, almost 75% is actualy pull right ouf the the kitten . Even establish lore ppl like woodenpotato express many time already they shoud wrap this crap up and anet shoud focus on the real old gw lore.

Yeah, the Iron Legion in particular are all about continuing to build. One of the aesthetics we were going for (which you can see most in the vehicle bays just off the Mustering Ground) was that the Iron Legion were barely finished with one project before they started on another. The theory being “Why turn off the forge when there’s always another tank to build?”

I am also waiting since day one for the Charr to finally finish building their Death Star and to see them fly away to their home planet. Yet, this might be Guild Wars 3 material.

In all technicality, we do not have enough history on the past of ANY of the other races to know in all certainty that they originated on Tyria either. As everything is currently presented any of the other races could be said to have been brought to Tyria as well and it would not make any of the current game lore incorrect.
Though acting like that is basically like saying “anything is possible if not explicitly pointed out” which is… odd to say the least.
Almost all races are heavily hinted to predate humanity, and humanity came shortly after the Six Gods’ arrival. So if they’re not Tyrian, they were either brought by other high-powerful beings, or arrived on Tyria by their own devices (which none really show to have sans mursaat and Forgotten).

It’s just a giant spherical building. Nothing hints nor implies that it is at all in any way related in function or reference to the Star Wars Death Star. That is just wild player speculative comparisons. Like Rata Sum and muraat being related.
