Hi everyone,
What do you all think is the best class and build(s)for dueling? From what I’ve heard:

1. S/D S/P thief
2. Hambow
3. Condi Engi
4. D/D ele
5. Lockdown Mes
6. ?
This may seem slightly off as it’s getting late where I am, but off the top of my head thats what I can think of…

Who told you that Hambows are good for dueling? Hambows are terrible at dueling. Assuming by dueling you mean 1v1.

Not exactly in this order, but for a 1v1 duel in a PvP arena:

1. PU Mesmer
2. P/D condi Thief & S/S+LB condi Warrior
3. Condi/bunkerish Engi/Ranger
4. D/D Ele & MediDPS Guardian & S/D Thief (kind of a Rock Paper Scissors IMO)
5. Good old Skullcrack Warrior
6. Minion Master…?

Honestly, there is a ton of rock paper scissor involved in dueling. MM is basically unbeatable by a lot of builds, but then gets totally smashed by quite a few others.

Answers will generally have a lot of bias. However PU Mesmer is one of the best all around.

Hambow is not good at all for dueling and S/D thief gets destoryed by any build with lot of sustain or AI.

Condi engi without supply crate is quite weak ( not sure if you count the ’’OP’’ elites)

I think the best are something like this

1. PU mes ( much stronger with condi duration food and perplex rune but not that good in spvp)
2. D/D ele
3. Celestial axe/LB warrior ( PvP only, cuz celestial sucks in wvw)
4. bunker settler regen ranger
5. P/D thief
6. turret engi with pirate rune ( PvP only cuz if you stand in the turrets in wvw , you are dumb)

But yea like other people said, there’s no ’’best’’ build because there’s always a counter.

Best for 1v1 is commander guardian. Survive, go away, tag up, come back with lots of people.

Really, the best way to win in 1v1 is Don’t.

Depends on what classes/builds are there to duel and how goo the people playing them are.
