Elementalist commander
ok. use your ele for storage delete your thief make a gaurdian
A lot of people would say that commanding on an ele isn’t really a good idea. IMO, i tend to agree to a certain point. It is possible to command, but only if you have a dedicated group who can listen. Meaning a good zerg. Pug group or simply called a blob of random people isn’t going to work because those people are simply going to follow your tag. Especially if those are not on teamspeak listening to you.
Since you’re an ele you can’t always push with frontlines and thus you need to be able to communicate precise movement to the zerg that is following you. And the zerg needs to execute your commands. Thus you have to be very specific on locations, how you want people to move and where to bomb and water field etc if it’s not on your tag.
So it all comes down to your ability as commander, but you will also be dependant on the group that is following you because they need to be better then the average blob. Running with your guild only for example would be good for this.
Check out violent resolution on the ranged game! We frequently run 10 or more heavy dps staff eles and we destroy hammer trains. Completely demoralized a guild that they didn’t want to run anymore that night. Our commander is iamtheduck. Whisper him for tips.
Bad Elementalist
I have only seen D/D eles command pug zergs. You rarely see eles commanding guild groups unless they are like VR who are mainly casters. As long as you can survive I would say you would be fine, but having followed D/D eles that are commanding, their expectations on where people can get to quickly is a little silly. The melee ball can move fast yes, but not as fast as RTL or LF.
I would ague against it simply because as a high-threat low-survivability class elementalists are focused preferentially over other classes, making it somewhat more difficult to be a commander because you are very likely to die during the course of a battle, whether you win or lose.
the couple of advantages commanding on ele provides is not needing to call out for fields too often as you could just place them yourself and asking for support when you wish to shower siege weapons. AoE stability is also possible if u spec 20 into earth.
other than that guardian and warrior commanders are the way to go especially if you command pugs. you need to live through it all to give commands.
from what I have seen people like to target staff eles and necros first because staff eles are fragile and offer great deal of support and necros cant escape focus fire.

Rock Solid isn’t going to save you, how you gonna drop your own water fields while an enemy hammer train plays pinball with you?
How are you going dictate melee movement without having another person tagged up? Maybe in a party of 4 guardians and 1 ele heavily outnumbering your opposition.
Honestly man, the best you can do is d/f heavy defense but an Ele commander for a mixed group is plain suicide, like another poster said, roll a bunker guardian or warrior, no point making an entire group of people suffer because you’re a sadomasochist.
