We’re all aware of the Ele and Engi’s capability of being a jack-of-all-trades. I think what the op is trying to get across is his concerns that the Ele out-shines all other professions due to having a vital role in literally every game mode meta out there, where as other professions will shine in some game modes and lack in others. Level of skill required is irrelevant for the purposes of this discussion and let’s be honest, often over-exaggerated.

This is true only for necromancer. Every other profession is viable in every game mode.

Viable sure. Vital to the meta, no. Can an Engineer play a role in a WvW zerg? Sure. Will he be as effective as an Elementalist? No. Just an example.

Why can’t he be as effective? Engis are very similar to elementalists.

Lol at this… They’re vastly different.
Ele provides the most support to the zerg in the whole game, and does the highest AOE damage in the whole game, while having the best CC in the whole game as well.
That’s the whole reason why they’re much needed in PVP and WvW.

In PvE they offer the biggest DPS in the game + soft and hard cc, amazing support lots of fields and lots of finishers. I mean its pretty hard to make an argument for filling the slots with anything non ele when you have a guard already.

No one cares, it’s PVE.

In PvP the Celestial varriant can beat about any other class in 1v1 and shrug of conditions as well as direct damage while dealing great damage themselves. Zerker with focus offer allmost no counterplay because all the spells are instant casts with instant procs from fire/air sigill. Even then they get all of that from their weapons and can take all the defensive utility they want.

D/D cele got hit pretty hard with the the recent might changes and in the squirmish spvp meta it’s easily focused and bursted in team fights. 1v1 potential is still pretty good. I still think that shoutbow/cele engie are a lot better then D/D.

Also, cele staff is a lot better then D/D IMO.

S/F insta burst is a problem due to it’s lack of counter play but the class has to rely on huge CD invulns in any prolonged fight. S/F is non existent in the TOP play of spvp due to it being a one trick pony. Why have an S/F ele when you can have comparable burst/boon strip/portals/on-demand interrupts from a halting strike mes?

In WvW they are the main source of Damage and can lay waste to entire Zergs. As well as sustain their own with waterfields and harrass the enemy with static fields. They also make excelent roamers and scouts.

Laying waste to a kittened zerg doesn’t really prove anything other then the fact that the zerg is kittened. If an organized zerg cant deal with ZELE statics and nukes then maybe they should run some type of gank and 1 shot them….

D/D in WvW is still strong due to the insane amount of stats you can get(can say this for a lot of classes). However, zerker necros and power rangers make it pretty difficult to do much small scale stuff on D/D these days.

With the introduction of celestial people have forgotten how ele was pretty much deleted from the spvp meta and really only used in PVE for conjure and WvW for AoE nuke. The class isn’t as strong as you think, it gets carried by an insane amulet.

In regards to the last page:
Phoenix is definitely broken considering you can hit it 5-6 times so umm yeah…
