Does this just seem stupid to anyone else? Why should we show our enemy what we are planning? Any decent player is going to know whats coming based on the attunement I am in. Remove the attunement from the buff bar. Why do we even need that in the first place? I mean are some players so dumb that they forget what attunement they are in unless they can see the icon?

They would also need to remove the visual effects around your character’s wrists for attunements.

I’m not sure I agree, though. As an attunement for elementalists is roughly equivalent to a weapon set, it seems unbalanced to hide it when it’s quite visually obvious what weapon set other professions are using, particularly with how many weapons have flashy effects.

Well, you can see the weapons someone have in their hands. When they switch to a bow, you can easily see it.

Attunements are not so easy to see. That’s why they get icons.

Attunements also provide a visual aid for the individual playing an ele because of the minor trait lingering attunements.

This game just hardly need a proper UI with customizable buff display, cast bars, moving windows and everything else.
Until then enjoy burning you eyes trying to see unremarkable warrior stance buffs and nigh-invisible “telegraphed” attacks of asura midgets.

Until then enjoy burning you eyes trying to see unremarkable warrior stance buffs and nigh-invisible “telegraphed” attacks of asura midgets.

I rage so hard when I fight asura characters. It is ridiculous how much of an advantage it gives not being able to see your opponents animations. The whole point of most of the recent warriors changes was giving set-up attacks huge animations (ex. mace F1). This changed nothing for asura since you can’t tell what they are doing anyways. Huge pet peeve of mine that it is significantly more difficult to fight asura than other races.

Gromphe Baenre (necro), Përsies (guard)

For some reason I think these effects should look like big, attunement-related colored crosshairs floating above elementalist’s head. From time to time he should be also marked on minimap and be accompanied by line “Here’s ele, mash you buttons!” in enemy chat.

That would be good for swag but I dont think that we need more signs that will allow to predict out actions. Currently the only kind of burst that really can be landed without CC is dumb freshair+arcana, all that firegrabs, earthshakes and churning suicides are already losing big part of their effectiveness due to visuals.

All you have to do is see the attunement they are in, see what weapon they have and boom. You already know what to expect. That takes what, less than a second?

We aren’t in warrior subforum where 1 second is just a time to drool on hammer 4. For ele 1 second is a lot. Even more, in teamfights some people may even not target ele! I cannot explain it, but it happens. So they cannot see it’s attunement buff.
We need every little advantage on ur side.

Do you play with sound? Even if our attunement icon were hidden, they are audially telegraphed very well. And visually too with a particle effect popping on attunement swap.

A great amount of good players don’t bother to check on their opponent buff bar specially in team battles. It is not necessary for most encounters. On 1v1 duels or going against someone as equal/greater skilled then you put more effort to defeat. The skill animations across all professions skills (very few from necros…) is where the attention goes.

Heidia- The elementalist is the #1 most OP profession in this game since beta!

Giving a tell is needed for balance…
I would instead complain about stuff not having a tell and dealing ton of damage…that is wrong.

If you remove the tell, the game becomes rock/paper/scissor at best or pure luck at worst….

GW2 balance:
A PvE player is supposed to avoid a 1-2 second 1 shotting aoe.
A WWW player is considered uncapable of avoiding a 5,75 second aoe for half his health.
