Hey y’all! After trying about with all of the professions and whatnot, i’ve fallen for the illustrious elementalist! And what a jolly fun profession it is!

Now, the weapons. I found the staff to be lackluster for my tastes, and the daggers too risky, so I got stuck with a scepter and focus. And with my below average skills, I am able to perform somewhat well with it. However, as most of us, I want to improve, I know it could do better. I know I can do better. My view is a tad…biased, however. So I would not be able to do it alone. So I am asking for some kind souls out there, to look at the build I am using, and give some tips for this below average player.

http://www.gw2db.com/skills/calc/elementalist#6|17|1150|48|3986|1848|4480|10|917|0|0|30|1617|2246|1607|0|0|0|0|0|0|0|0|30|2252|1628|1627|0|0|0|28016|28032|49970|49970|49970|49970|49962|25790|0|0|0|0|0|

And there we have it. It is only used in Spvp currently. And its main objective: Substantial damage. The build is built so I am almost constantly inside the “Air” attunement, and constantly on the move. Even the heal allows me move freely, and attack with the scepter at the same time. My traits are built mostly around getting up endurance, and speed. I use all utility slots for defensive cooldowns, to be able to withstand enemy attacks (my HP will not do that, obviously). The build also allows for some effective underwater combat, which is quite nice.

If you’d come this far, I would like to ask for criticism and comments aboot the build. Any help to get it better, would be greatly appreciated. And if there is any information I left out or such, just ask.

Thank y’all for reading, and have a pleasant day!

Wow, you sure went all out for endurance traits, especially since you could always take sigil of energy instead to give 50% endurance when you attunement switch. It also does not make much sense to take all of those traits while ignoring the trait which makes our rolls become extremely useful blast finishers.

Well, I am sure I mentioned it somewhere up there, but with the build as it is now, I am almost constantly inside the air attunement. As such, I very rarely switch, as doing so would drop my outgoing damage quite a bit. As such, the sigil of energy would be a bit of a waste. As for the dodge trait, I did in fact use it a bit. But being in the air attunement, it was only one extra blind every 10 seconds, which i’d say was not worth it.

Feel free to play how you like, though if you are investing 30 points into arcane to stick in one attunement, I feel like those 30 points are almost completely wasted. Most elementalist builds put points in the arcane tree because of the reduction on attunement changing cds. The build you have and the playstyle you are using just do not really match up in my opinion. If you want to stay in 1 atunement (note that you pretty much lose 75% of the classes effectiveness this way), I would suggest taking 10 in arcana and putting the rest in water to enhance your cantrips.

you are on a long and arduous path.
you will go through many phases should you stay with the ele.
some of them wont be pretty.

eventually you likely end up back at scepter/focus and consider it completely differently than you do now.

have fun!

Ahoy again MindlessRuff! Biggest reason I have points in the arcane path is obviously for the endurance regen, which helps me be able to dodge quite a bit. Another reason, is for the “Arcane Precision” which when inside the air attunement, gives away the “weakness” condition, and somewhat often too. The only one I feel is a waste would be the “30” trait, although the only other choice I have, seems to be putting five points into another path, and all of those traits would be “Attunement” based. And thus, I feel its an’ even bigger waste.

Also, Crunchy Gremlin, you have to forgive me, but I am not entirely sure as to what you mean…

I believe energy sigils were recently nerfed to 25%. Just putting it out there.

That is incorrect. The nerf only affected the MAJOR sigils, which previously had 50% like the Superior ones.

That playstyle seems like madness.

1. Where is your condition clearing?
2. If you’re in s/f, don’t you want to use the great defensive skills in Earth?

And by the way — if you’re being chased by somebody who wants to be in melee, Ring of Fire hits hard, and it hits, and you can land Phoenix as well, which is also a big hit, and stacks Might as well.

Ah yes CurtMonash, it is most likely some form of insanity playing like this, still fun though!

1. I get my condition clearing from Ether Renewal, and I do not lose out much from using it, as it gets my endurance up, and I am able to use two scepter skills while channeling it.
2. Ah yes, those are quite nice, however, it is very risky for me to change into another attunement, as I lose out on the speed bonus. So I tend to only change into earth if I want to revive someone in the middle of combat, or if I am to run into a safe sanctuary.

Being that the build is ranged, I try to avoid melee combat as much as possible, mostly through using the “5” skill on focus, and running around like a coward. If they do come up to me I have the three utility skills to use. Fire, as with changing to earth, leaves me very vulnerable due to me losing out on speed. And the big hitter from scepter’s fire attunement tends to be easily dodged. Also, is’nt ring of fire a dagger skill?
