[Vote] Elementalist Buff?
In PvE, we are very, very weak. Running through Orr to get to an event shouldn’t become a desperate struggle if you get pulled by a Plaugebearer.
In sPvP, we are very weak. The amount of work it takes to be succesful with an ele would allow you to have a much more meaningful impact with any other prof. I can do decently on my ele in sPvP, then switch to my Mes and top the charts putting in less work.
In WvW however, we are really, really strong. If we get caught with our pants down by a Thief, we’re pretty much dead and it’s impossible to beat a well-played Mes with their elite up. In a group, however, we can really make a difference. With a crit/power/pres build you can blow up groups of enemies REALLY quick if they don’t notice you. Getting on a cliff above an enemy group and doing your AoE rotation usually results in 5-6 downed enemies in a few seconds. The big problem is that while we can down players in a best case scenario, it leaves our tank dry, our attunes on CD and the enemies can rally before we can do anything. Of course, it also bears mentioning that my ele is extremly geared and there’s still a ton of <80’s in WvW who get hit by 6-7k+ a tick off Meteor Shower.
The problem is going to be improving our PvE and sPvP ability (where it sorely lacks) without pushing us to the point where we are killing enemy parties in WvW.
morrolan.9608:There seems to be plenty of analysis and possible solutions being posted in the thread. Good stuff actually.
I’m sorry, let me rephrase. The options provided hold no value to the devs. “slight buff”, “no buff” or “major buff” does not provide any substantial information to compose the right solution. Granted, there are some folks in this thread who are providing some decent information, but my original statement still holds – that the original premise for the thread doesn’t work.

For reference, take a look at this thread and the breadth of valuable information in it.

3, We need DMG BUFF SERIOUSLY
The other classes did 6-7k crit dmg while the highest i seen myself doing is only 3k. That’ HALVE the value! Too much!. I knew we’re AoE heavy but halve the difference of dmg is mere too much.
My recommendation for fix
-Buff damage on fire tree a bit (deem fire tree as AoE heavy attunment)
-Buff damage on ice/wind/earth a lot (because it’s so weak that i have to skip them all entirely just to stay fire for most dmg)
-Buff the HP a bit as we’re too squishy and a lot of on trigger hp wont even trigger because we just went from 80 to 0% in one-two shot…

1. Not for the buff, but to fix our broken traits/skills. Otherwise, we are pretty good as is.
I solo’d the whole story mode at the minimum levels required for pve just fine. In dungeons I do just as well as the next profession. Spvp I have zero issues against other skilled players except for Guardians which I think are way too OP.
We aren’t broken, people just need to change their builds around until they find one that suits them. Otherwise maybe this profession isn’t their gameplay style and they need to switch to something a little less complex…. like Warriors or Guardians.
Characters- Levicus (Ele); Levicus Gear (Eng);
Levicus Shield (War)
1 at PvE and something almost 3 in PvP
plus air single target damage boost and fixing some major skill bugs
i really don t get a point.
People who said:“to be good you have to use my build” (usually D/D with 30 arcana etc).
If there are trait choices and weapon choices it doesn t seem right that just a couple works.
You should be able to use your traits as you want (even if in a clever way) and choose wich weapon you want to use, otherwise its clear that something doesn t work.
A PvE player is supposed to avoid a 1-2 second 1 shotting aoe.
A WWW player is considered uncapable of avoiding a 5,75 second aoe for half his health.
1.
I entered a cave of Dereges with allied warrior. He got attacked by 4 mobs and I got attacked by 3.
He was just standing in 1 place killing them easily.
I ended up fighting for my life jumping and dodging, using anti-projectile skills and, anyway, doing worse than him.
Obviously Elementalists need tripple as much efford to achieve the same goals as others do easily.
-In dageers its fight for your life, as you are in melee range with hardly any defence and not better offence than any newbie warrior
-In scepter it’s fight for your life as damage is directed on 1 target and is anyway kinda weak
-In staff its fight for your life, as untill you spam your control skills you wont kill enemies untill they will kill you, so you have to keep running away in hope they will finally die.
