I love everything about my Engi. Thematically, it matches my personality more than any other class. However, it feels like it is a constant struggle to play engi. I’m predominantly a PvE player. I dabble in PvP for the rewards every now and then, but I definitely do not enjoy it as much as wrecking mobs in PvE. Engi has been suffering in this department for a while now. We just aren’t really wanted in groups, at least in my experience. The only acceptable engi’s in raids are condi engi’s. Now, before I go further, I just want to say that I completely understand raiding groups wanting the best. It makes perfect sense, that isn’t my complaint. Personally, I do not like condi builds. I’m a sucker for use numbers and blowing things up instantly. I just feel like I shouldn’t have to deviate from the build I have the most fun with just to be even slightly relevant in end-game PvE. Moreover, even when I do give up and play condi, if there is a ranger out there, I can’t even raid as condi. Engi just feels so underpowered, and unwanted in it’s current state. This makes me incredibly sad, because the ultimatum I’m given is either give up on end-game content, or give up on Engi.

I feel the same way and I hope engis get buffed into the meta again, both in PvE and PvP. We have been neglected for so long!

A Dev has said in an ama, that for the next balance patch they have been working on getting engi core function and, usefullness fixed. Let’s hope that will happen. But I aint holding my breath, just yet.

Sadly I feel the only thing that will bring Engi into the thing called “Meta” again is a future Elite spec.

cough please be Main hand Sword, main-hand Dagger, or Greatsword elite spec for 2nd expansion for Engineer. Don’t care if it is range nor melee Sword, Dagger, or greatsword.cough

Engi is basically dead.

My main is an engi. My favorite class. Very versatile imo.

Even if the Feb 22 patch fixes some parts of the engi, its TOO EFFNG LATE!

The only place where engi shines is the bombs. Its fun as hell.

THe enemy chases you, and you run away….dropping bombs. I luv doing that.

its slow, but against at overpowering enemy it works.

The scrapper elite was a BAD move. I don’t melee with engi. EFF that POO.

Pistol/Pistol or Rifle Elite would be far more fitting.

swords? pffffttt. Primitive weapons for savages.

Bombs are our top power dps atm. And PBAoE too… so very good. Bomb Auto is one of the best AA on the game, AFAIK.

Power core engi (with bombs) is our best power dps, with riffle providing great burst and CC.
Condi core engi is our best condi dps, but lacks decent group util.
Scrapper is a support spec, but gyros don’t provide any reasonable support to bring in a raid/dungeon situation.

The problem with core engi (in pve) is that although our top dps builds are good dps, they don’t do much for the group to justify bringing one. So we need more dps or more support without loosing dps…

The problem with scrapper (in pve) is that gyros are bad.

i feel prity mutch the same way you all do with engi in pve. i have also found that for pvp a scrapper hammer build is a bit stong. i can solo like 3 players with just my engi and barly get hurt. i feel that as a engi in pve i am just week everywere unless i use a condi build and that is just not to mutch fun for me. i hop they can ballance the engi for pve more so we dont get toused aside for playing a fun class.

It would also be nice, though perhaps too much wishful thinking, if ANet swapped pistol skills #3 and #4. That would make the pistol a condi mainhand, with offhand pistol and shield providing alternative means of control.

PvE buffs? Sure, it needs them badly. PvP buffs? Don’t even think about it. PvP has suffered enough from powercreep.

No idea where this is coming from. Engi is one of the 4 top dpsers against small hitboxes. The problem ppl have with engi is it’s difficulty and that pugs don’t trust random engis, wich I completely understand. If you have a guild or a dps meter, you’ll find your spot as a good engi, no probs. I agree we could use some utility love, wich is what’s gonna happen tonight from what I’ve heared. The demand for good engis will rise soon, I assume.
