Mines at your feet in which the enemy mobs have to walk over, especially when using the rifle < Raw damage for each condition on the enemy
Unfortunately, no.
It was the only new grandmaster trait that seemed like it could’ve been something, but it’s got such a small trigger radius that the enemy has to practically step on the mine for it to detonate.
It could have uses in PvP, but for PvE modified ammo outdoes it.
The mine is better DPS than Modified Ammo in most cases but the extremely specific distance you have to be from the center of the mob makes it somewhat impractical to use in practice.
A clear nope for Dungeons
reasons:
-too small trigger radius
-does not work when stacked on the boss, since the boss has to move to trigger them
But it’s a nice trait against subject alpha in CoE p1 since his incoming adds and essences trigger your mines in every encounter on this path.
For map-exploration the trait works as well, since you can kite basically every mob into your mines… works best with bombkit and therefore is a sure champ-killer if you manage to kite even ranged champs around obfuscations.
A definite yes in WvW
The mines will crit up to almost 3k on 5 targets in a 240 range (if traited), combined with bomb-kit / toolkit that is currently the best melee zerger combo you can run as engi.
also for solo-roaming they are a nice thief detector, basically working like the necro-mark-spamming… less detection-range tho, but made my life against perma-stealth builds much easier^^
