Condi PvE Flamescrapper Build Critique
When I’m running around being lazy, I’ll often pull out something like this. It is really really tanky, and even though FT does pretty poor damage in a vacuum, the fact that you’re basically pegged at 25 might in combat makes the solo damage of the build pretty reasonable considering the minimal effort required to run it. The 2nd and 3rd utility slots are entirely user preference.
It certainly isn’t the strongest build you can play, but it does reasonably well with basically 0 effort.
If you’re willing to put more work into playing, you can go with the meta condi engineer build and swap in traveler runes and Trailblazer/Rabid gear until you’re happy with your level of tanky-ness. It would look something like this.

One thing that you could do is select the trait Chemical Rounds in lieu of the High Caliber trait.
My own experience/opinion regarding running the HoT maps with a Condi build is that it is best to minimize switching out of your P/P. Switching out of Pistols is, in essence, a DPS drop. Constantly switching Kits is a type of self-nerf. Pistol 1 Bleed, with Krait Runes and Pizza can stack 10 Bleeds, easily. The Elixer Gun becomes somewhat redundant. I think that EG servers a purpose in WvW, but not so much in a PvE Condi Build.

I’ve had lots of fun and success with this:
I’m guessing this is this for open world?
If so, it should be be fine. However, consider this variant:

There’s two changes – Flame Turret dropped for Elixir B and Inventions Line changed out for Alchemy. Here’s why:
- Using the Alchemy line with Elixir Gun and Elixir B allows you to stack up to 25 stacks of might by yourself.
– Toss Elixir B allows you to keep up stability when you swap to Elixir Gun so that you don’t lose might stacks.
– Elixir B supplements the loss of 25% movement speed for swiftness. It’s not 100%, uptime on swiftness, but it is a 33% speed boost when it’s up.
– Turrets don’t gain from your condition damage, so Flame Turret isn’t as much of a boost to dps as you would think it would be.
– Protection on CC and health regen from Backpack Regenerator are particularly helpful for the type of mobs you face in the new HoT zones.
for pvp and wvw i prefer to take elixir gun , elixir B and elixir U rather than flamethrower. Elixir U with pistols in melee is really really stron
