Forified Turrets reflection delay
It’s already extremely powerful. Use it when you know someone is going to far cast. If you time it right, turret builds can reflect all projectiles for a good 15+ seconds.
Message me any time in game.
While the delay is annoying, you still can make it work against mai trin. ^ ^
On the subject of Fortified Turrets, are there any practically PvE/Dungeon use cases where it absolutely makes sense to pick this thing up? People keep telling me in game that Fortified Turrets is useless, and I haven’t been able to test it out myself.
In PvE, there are plenty of creatures with damaging, telegraphed volleys of attacks. For example, Young Karkas in Southsun Cove, or Attack Golems in Metrica Province both use flurries of ranged attacks as an opening tactic, and intermittently afterward, with a unique animation.
As for dungeons, I don’t run dungeons, so I don’t know. Any situation where the attack is reflectable and has a tell that can be recognized with enough time to place the Turret as a countermeasure, though, really shows the usefulness of Fortified Turrets.
The reflect is short and there’s a delay + the turret drop time, which makes it a bit difficult to use, but yeah, reflects do fine in PvE. They’re like 99% of the reason anyone ever takes a guardian.
I am perfectly fine with the delay. It permits players an opportunity to stop firing projectiles when they see you drop a turret. It is essentially just enough time to offer reasonable counterplay. I want this in the professions I play against, so I feel it is reasonable for us to have.
For PVE, so far I’ve only made good use of turret reflects against Lupi and the final boss in Arah path 1. For Lupi, it is fairly easy to time it correctly during phase 2, but phase 3 can be more difficult as it seems to sometimes cause him to drop the dome on you and the timing of his rapid fire attack is more random (I’m not entirely sure that it reflects the rapid fire damage back to him, but it does at least protect you against it). As for the final boss of Arah p1, it can be useful (especially if there is no mesmer or guardian in the party) because if the attack isn’t being reflected by the crystal, it won’t break.
It can also be useful against various other enemies (such as risen elementalists), but you are probably better off with other traits/skills (toss elixir u, if you need projectile defense).
They need to eliminate the delay for many things engineers deal with, turret overload on healing turrets, the delay between exploding bombs starting with the first one (if the first one exploded immediately it wouldn’t be so noticeable) and now this. Please eliminate all delays in our skills. You eliminated them on ranger pets, the same balance requirements are needed here. Thanks.
