I used to think (build op, pls nerf) like you, but then I took a nerf to the knee.
I find it amusing that people are so shortsighted that they’re hoping this is working as intended, even though this essentially invalidates the effort required for any class that is not engineer.
Think about what will happen if this is left in. Think about how this will affect the leaderboards, ranked, unranked, teams.
Easy wins at the cost of the game’s enjoyment isnt good for anyone.
At least people can now feel like a turret. They die as fast, too.
Well, not that anyone bothered being shortsighted right then, when they asked to nerf them to oblivion so that they could have easy wins, instead of wanting some redesign to give them active play.
Guess this grenade bug could be some kind of karmic retribution.
Still, unlike turrets, it will be fixed. And very few people approve of this unintended behaviour, anyway. Again, unlike turrets.
Anyone hoping that it is working as intended is lazy and needs to learn how to play the game.
Like I said, I’ll play my full zerk engineer and one shot people until enough people complain about this and Anet fixes it. They can change world boss HP (because that is important), but allowing people to be one shotted in WvW and PvP is no big deal I suppose. #PvE #Priorities #Anet

I got insta killed alot of times on WvW/SPVP by engineer granade. If its not a bug its just a broken trait.Not even thief or mesmers bursts can down my HP that fast. Thats rlly scary

I’d actually like it if they kept the 13 grenades but halved the damage/scaling on each, so it would do roughly the same damage as a ‘proper’ Grenade Barrage (7 hits). More chances to proc Shrapnel/on-hit traits are always welcome and would prevent power-instagibbing I believe.
yup, just got 1 shot twice in a row on a thief with 17k health, 2nd time i was in stealth at full health (so 25% dmg reduction) and I still got one shot

Mortar kit dealing the same amount of damage as grenade auto attacks? Better gut it by 28% a day after patch release. don’t want the precious grenade kit not being #1.
Grenade Kit piercing and throwing 13 grenades at once? Better let that stew for a couple days, who knows what could happen!
Honestly, it really calls into question their QA process. How do things like this get into the live servers? It’s incredible.
The only way to not have something like this happen is to do a full regression test on every single trait with every single ability every time anything is changed for a class. Or if a mechanic is changed that might pertain to the class. Preferably, you would do every permutation of trait selection for every class, and for each, use every possible weapon and every single utility to make sure nothing is bugged.
Does that sound reasonable? Because it shouldn’t. I don’t know what their QA process is, but this bug slipping in doesn’t really surprise me, especially with the large system change and overhaul of traits. It could have slipped for any of a number of reasons.
A friend of mine who plays WoW always shares the random bugs that happen, because we like to discuss how in the blazes it could even be a thing. The best one, in my opinion, was when the Orc shoulder graphic took like a 50% reduction in size one patch. For like, no reason. It took months for them to fix, and they had no mention of changing anything related to that anywhere in the notes.
In short, bugs happen. #software
The biggest issue, in my opinion, is the lack of action around it.

Anet won’t care until 60 people are being reported every 15 seconds due to being able to bust down gates in 5 seconds lol. I’m sure they’ll disable it tonight when the same thing happens.

Agreed. Anyone who thinks this is intended is just stupid. The Guard symbolic avenger was stupid and was disabled yesterday. This also will likely be addressed. If not you will see more Engies in sPvP until enough complaints go through or Anets statistics show Engies over represented.
