You guys are definitely right about removing Sbs from commonly used skills and placing them on lessers…thats not how you go about that :|

Yeah pretty tanky and running protection injection plus some other defensive traits (I’m talking WvW here, I don’t PvP much). I’m more of a small group support build. Even so, I often get stun-locked, and at that point it’s over.

Also Thumper turret will be now one of must have skills. Decent AoE damage, knockback, 3 blast finishers (synergy with regenerating mist is like another big heal) and now stunbreaker all in one skill.

Maybe in spvp, not in wvw. Another blast-finisher would be nice though, but the CD is to high to be worth it.

Basically they took away a stunbreaker which was usefull everywhere (Elixir R) and added one which makes only sense in some limited areas. And I highly doubt that KR super speed will be useable as a stunbreaker (which is unreliable anyways because of the global CD for multi-kits).

It looks like Anet is forcing us to stop using Kits. Right now in WvW to use 100% from bomb kit you need to be at 2200 toughness or more, to enter enemy blob put bombs, and get out with 3-4k HP. Elixir R was one of stunebreak that was helping inside the enemy zerg, which in this patch it will be unplayable. Will be forced now to use P/P+Rocket Boots for leap (moving skill) and something for cleansing. Im not happy with those changes, it not making for us new build, its more making for us to be unplayable class. Not sure what was the point in those all changes. Acidic Elixirs, dear devs, no one will be using Toss on enemy, for god sake. I just hope that tomorrow, we will see something different, thakittens right now. I dont want to be replaced by Necroses.

Lets all troll on usless mortar. Thats how AN thinks we play.

God bless Engi. Tomorrow will be removed from game.

I kind of like how all the focus on kits and so forth – the semi-plausible changes – is doing exactly what the maker of these probably fake notes wanted: Distracting from the obviously nonsensical changes while provoking kittenfits.

Kinda ticked off about the Elixir R change as well, I mean, I could see how the Stun Breakers should be spread out more evenly, but why does Elixir R have to suffer for it? Now I feel I’m forced to use mediocre skills I didn’t spec for just to get out of stun :\

(or I could just stick to Elixir S… too bad the toolbelt skill is an unreliable piece of crap)

I´m quite sure the notes aren´t a fake, maybe not the final or full notes but there are to much details from all classes. That would be a ton of work for a single person and giving to much room for obviuos mistakes.

There was also a dev-post some time ago, stating Anet would need around 2 weeks only for translations.

So, the patch preview is out for the guide sites and etc… and, at least for the trait lines, most of the changes are true to to the leak. Wait and see for the skill changes, but I don’t think it’ll differ a lot.

Personally loving the change to rocket boots (if real)… even if its not a stun break, it gets rid of the most annoying conditions in the game and puts gets you out of the way too, like a super “ride the lighting”. And the cd is low enough that you can use it for mobility too, especially if you dont do that dumb flounder on the ground after using it. :P Plus blast finisher for might. Nice burn on the tool kit also! Definately going on my bar.

Change to coated bullets great too, get that AND juggernaut

Necros were supposed to be good with conditions and are presently way better as power build, so something had to be done there. I dont see where the patch helps them much with burning anyway, since its a GM trait, which precludes 2 other extremely useful traits.

Drugs? Got 2k hours on Engi, where 1700 are on WvW. Playing on organized hardcore wvw guild, to make useful engi for group you need to be on granade (where reta is hiting like a truck) or bombs, and you need 2200+ toughness just to enter, use bombs get out, and waiting for heal and CD, and you are pretty usless, cuz having low power, on pistol is kinda low dmg like 500-600. A little better on GvG where is less numbers etc, but still there are better classes, like necro, who will hit with blind from wells, and GG and giving also chill on every blind.

i know they are unoficial. and i hope they will never put those changes.

then take off your clyde’s dale blinders. you have very very narrow vision. is this your first visit to the forums? are you unaware of the myriad builds using kits in WvW? How do these notes eliminate kits even if they were real?

also, what GvG? there is no GvG in this game. None. Guilds organizing fights with other guilds within WvW is not GvG.

What is see in the changes to Battering ram it’s toolbelt skill and the toolbelt skills for rocket and rifle turret. Opening up some nice SD builds with… EVEN MORE DAMAGE!

I’m hoping that the notes are fake. ArenaNet themselves have said that this patch was supposed to help make some build variety, but all of the buffs that I see are really big buffs to HGH, a build which many consider to already be the only viable build..

There are plenty of things in those notes that don’t fit Anet’s style – for one, as has been noted, the use of CC as an acronym. I also find Torment’s in-notes comparison to Bleed to be suspect, simply because it seems an odd way for Anet to explain its effects (or for them to bother to do so at all, instead of dropping it into player laps and going “You figure it out.”).

The theme of Weakness-nerfing, likewise, seems odd; they’ve mentioned that they want Weakness to affect Critical Hits in order to ‘punish spike damage.’ Why would they cut its effectiveness in half to fix that? It’s not a class-specific effect, unlike Kits getting Sigils and the Grenade Kit getting nerfed, yet these notes both cut its effectiveness in half at base (again, directly counterintuitive to the stated goal of making sure critical hits are affected) and then go on to nerf it into the ground class-by-class – including our Downed skill that inflicts it. They do mention that they’ve rebalanced durations of Weakness effects in the announcement, but if it only does half of what it used to anyway (even if it now also affects Critical Hits), why would they bother?

It’s also entirely possible that these were a collaboration between several people. Elaborate things often are.

The translation requirement has nothing to do with the possible veracity of these except giving a window of time. Could they have the things translated by now? Sure. Does that make these any more plausibly the patch notes? Not to my mind – it’s very easy to account for a nebulous window in time.

Elite supplies: The change to elite supplies is really needed. Mortar already deals crap damage, so allowing the engi to shoot it as far as a mortar should shoot isn’t an issue. Hopefully it isn’t like a 1% increase in range.

Coated Bullets and Juggernaut: The movement of coated bullets and juggernaut to master is massive and will open up soooo many different builds. Those two moves alone probably created at least 5 new viable builds.

Elixir X: The elixir X cooldown reducion is cool. It allows for the creation of an elixir x focused build that can keep elixir x up a lot.

Rumble: I am sooo fing tired of them adding stuff to turrets. This is the only change that im not happy about. Given that it’ll die in 2 seconds in a zerg or really any situation above 4v5, this stability is not viable for WvW. Add our stability to something useful or make it last 5-10 seconds instead of 1second. That said, stability is stability. Given that engis don’t have much of it, some is better than none>.<

Acidic coating: With is pretty massive. A blind every 10 seconds isn’t shabby.

Leg Mods: Here I come melandru runes and lemongrass for near completely unhindered movement.

Modified ammunition: A good way to increase the damage to hgh pistol builds that was lost in the confusion nerf. Pretty significant buff for condition engis. Running this could almost make a none hgh build viable since your burns would be doing massive damage.

That´s actually what I think about at least of half of your posts (to keep it polite enough not to get an infraction).

Take your loved flamethrower to a zerg-fight against his guild on the borderlands (or any other well organized zerg) and prepare yourself to delete all your flamethrower praising-threads, then you can come back telling us about narrow vision.

I disagree:
– in competitive WvW, in the first tiers, there is not “myriad builds using kits” that can help/deal real damage to a group/zerg. Sure you could try all the “fun” things, but against a good group/zerg your damage / cc / whatever output will often be close to zero.
– there is GvG, if you did not experienced it, well that`s another thing that is out of your field of vision; be sure that there are more such things.
– Lotus is right: vs a good zerg / group one needs a lot of toughness to survive the AoE. Toughness is useless even in 5v5 or smaller groups, once you are FOCUSED by 2-3 Good players.

You should understand, the way you see the world around you may not be 100% accurate, and I just realized I am wasting my time posting this.

godkitten these are really really bad..

no weapon swap + bad weapons and kits + only 3 utility slots + compareably long cooldowns on bad skills.
Even more rng on the new traits… how is a rng blind / a rng aegis good game design that generates interesting play?
Why would they REMOVE stunbreakers ever?
whats the deal with rocket boots shooting me forward? i can aim backwards but when immobilized you cant aim last time i checked…

remove a single boon on elixir throw? really? why would that make me want to waste utility slots / heal slot on elixirs?

idk.. i think..

The rank 8 warrior from the arenanet vs USA community team game is responsible for engineer balancing and these trait changes. Either way its probably someone who doesnt play the game he balances very well sigh

Im not sure about Mod. Ammo. It depends on how it works, altough i can pretty much guarentee you that your conditions will not scale with it. It would be the first and only flat damage %-modifier that condition damage would actually scale of in the whole game.

Secondly, its wording is misleading. “if you have a pistol or rifle equiped”. Why mention this when an Engineer always carries a pistol or a rifle?
Unless the damage boost only applies to the pistol and rifle abilities.

If that is the case, then this trait is actually not that great at all. Pistols have rather poor direct damage, logically due to the amount of condition damage abilities tend to carry. So a damageboost to pistols isnt as big of a deal. Say you can average 5 conditions at all times, thats 10% boost to just pistols direct damage. Not amazing at all.
And the same goes for Rifle, rifle already has a flat 10% damage trait that is guarenteed to work all the time regardless of conditions. Is it worth giving up 20% cooldown reduction or the range increase (or any other trait you might fancy) to get 2% dmg per condition? If not, its certainly not worth taking 2% dmg per condition over the flat 10% dmg boost.

it’s still a decent trait, you are forgetting about the minor traits in firearms, sharpshooter, target the weak and target the maimed which go very well together with modified ammunition. I’d be looking at +20% damage (10 from mod ammo, 5% from sigil, 5% from target the maimed) and 70% ish crit rate against targets at less than 50% hp which isnt bad at all.

I’m unsure wether to take it or not, mainly because I dont want to give up on anything else. I may have to finally let go of cloaking device :<

Not exactly sure why everyone is afraid of the changes…apart from Elixir R, it seems we’ve been made a lot more survivable. I look forward to the changes in Firearms and thinking about trying the following build in tPVP once patch hits.

Thank Anet for build diversity…now if only they sort out hobosacks, minor traits in Explosives, make implementation bug free and somehow make Torment not OP…then i will rest well knowing i threw money at the right people.

Not afraid of them at all, want them enough not to get hoodwinked by a too-good-to-be-true moment in the event the notes are fake.

It is just a cynical shield wall put up after so many patches.

I play devils advocate a lot, bit it just seems that anet isn’t in control of their own game. these notes are uncharacteristic. im not getting my hopes up.

After some short time in the Mist i can say with fair certainty that Modified Ammunition only works on pistols and rifle, not on weaponkits.
