Hi, I’m looking for a rifle build mostly for solo pve and dungeons. My engi is only lvl 14 so I’d like to find a build that I can level with and get used to it when I get to lvl 80. I’d also like to get an idea on which stats I should be looking for.

Rifle is a control wep, for DPS you will need to use Kits (bomb kit / grenade kit / go conditions).

For solo pve a rifle build with hgh is viable, for dungeons, it’s rather useless compared to the overwhelming utility and strenght of bombs n’ grenades. Not to mention that they also are better than a rifle only build in open world PvE, but there you can play whatever you want and rifle is ok tough.

If you like the rifle however, I still recommend to go for grenades, bombs and probably an elixier gun. Just use the rifle for 2, 3, 4 and 5 and you’ll be fine. The rifle will also get a minor buff due the patch at march → 2nd sigil slot = +5% dmg~

In PvE btw go full zerker in any case!

2 out of 5 skills are control skills, one of them with nice dmg. I would consider the rifle as a Power DPS weapon (and this is why in every powerbuild nearly all rifle skills are weaved in the rotation)

you could run a Static-Discharge build

not as strong as grenades/bombs but really fun and with EG nice group support. The burst is handy in many fights. i used this build for openPvE, dungeons and fractals up to 30.

With Modified Ammunitions and a few stacks might you see these sweet 17k jumpshots coupled with 4k AA Hipshotscrits (and with fury you are sitting around 85% critchance)

yes, you are squishy, but its also a good level and starter-build for fresh 80 imho. In OpenWorld you burst everything down before it even attacks. With Knockbacks (2 of them), Netshot and Cripple/acid bomb you have a lot of control. I burst even veterans down without one attack against me.

If we are honest to ourselves, the rifle skills in a rotation could be easily replaced by bomb 1.

I have never seen any 4k Auto Attacks from my rifle #1. Maybe I’m doing it wrong (as in not having a banner warrior close by to buff me)?

Well 25 stacks might, 25 stacks vulnerability, low armor target, banner, bufffood, traits, runes, sigils. 4k aa from rifle 1 means you are ultra buffed, wich also means the bombs would deal like 8k. Just combine the rifle and don’t stay at AA. Ingi AA sux in general.

Static Discharge build with Modified Ammo will get you dishing out some very respectable burst damage using primarily your rifle. Bring MedKit & ToolKit. Then pick any 2 of the following: Rifle Turret, Goggles, Rocket Boots. Go x/30/x/x/30 and put your last 10pts wherever you want. Enjoy.

guide to leveling engi:

1. get speedy kits (10 tools + 1 kit)
2. get rocket boots (utility slot)
3. use both as much as possible, experiment with everything else
4. ???
5. now your 80. buy real gear and dig thru the forums for a real build.

Thanks a lot for all the info, I’ll give a try on the Static Discharge build. Seems fun to me. I understand that I can’t use the rifle all the time but I wanted to keep using it because I like the control it gives me against close combat mob.
