New Engineer asking for help
for wvw roaming I’d seriously recommend to drop the idea of condi-dmg. It is awesome in pvp, but in wvw buff-food, and the almighty presence of shoutbuilds (warri-anti-condi) completely destroys the idea of running pure condi.
I would recommend 2 things:
For roaming go with celestial stats and keep doing the same, alongside with the direct dmg you do now celestial will help you on the survivability-department and the power-dmg you do now helps you to deal with peksy condi-reflect necros. Or -if you feel ballsy- go with a berserk s/d build directly and play the hit’n’run game.
For Zerging go full tanky. PVT or Knights-gear are your best shots if you wanna run with the melee-train. Use the Bombkit and toolkit primarily and have thumper-turret as stunbreaker / knockback spam. If you’re lucky and running in a organized guild-group, go full berserk instead and stay on max-range with nades while covering the area with all kinds of red circles.
I’m sure other engis will liter this thread with direct build-links as I’m too tired right now to construct some links.
I use condi damage and bomb/grenades/e gun all the time. Rabid gear and different runes perplex/krait/antitoxin/adventurer based on what is needed.
Conditions are fine roaming and they can’t clear all of them. You have a LOT of dodges and ability to outlast any anti condi abilities.
In zergs, often the enemy is already lit up with condis or will have multiple guardians etc. power can work there better. I always run with both sets on me.
