Guild Wars 2

Okay, to start, I am relatively new to GW2, but not to gaming or MMOs. I get the concepts and math of the system, but also know well enough to ask the community for advice.

So, my situation is this. I like Engineer so far, despite its need for polish. Specifically, I really like the Flamethrower. My issue is that I am not a fan of massive kit-twisting. Kit-wise, I prefer to just run one, MAYBE two if the other is Med-Kit. I usually run PvE solo or in a small 2-4 person group. I might roll in some dungeons later, but I am just taking it a day at a time.

That being said, is there a Flamethrower build (probably with Rifles, but I am flexible here) that is decent (read as: Not Uber but doesn’t make me cry when I play it) along these guidelines? What would you roll with?

Looks similar to what I was envisioning. Traits are the mystery to me so far, and those make sense.

I’d also try moving those 10 points from inventions to tools for extra crit and speedy kits or kit refinement or SD. Here’s my build:
