Non-kit ranged engi?

Hello everybody.

I greatly enjoy playing my engi, but I’m wondering is it possible to make one that would work without juggling 56 kits and 468 skills rotation?
With accent on rifle, or maybe dual pistols? Like actual ranged fighter that uses firearms to deal damage and gadgets and elixirs to help him.
Mostly for PvE. Does anybody know would that be possible?

Thanks in advance.

This guy has some really cool PvP videos with a kitless Scapper but PvE-wise, I think you can but it just looks like having kits in PvE is the way to go to maximize your DPS

Well damn that didn’t work out well.

For just regular, normal, non-intense open world PvE, closest thing I can give you for a good, viable kitless Engi is this:

http://gw2skills.net/editor/?vdAQFAUlUUhaqYJXwtLw6FLkGE4sv9/Cz9p+5YAa+zB-TBBXgAAK/C1B0r+zjSQA-e

It’s a Static discharge build, all about spamming F2-4 as often as possible with rifle bursts. Yes, it does have a kit (Tool Kit,) but it has a secondary role in this build, used for when you need a block, second CC for breakbars, or melee attacks against enemies with reflect. If you have to go completly kitless, you could replace it with Personal Battering Ram or Rocket Boots, depending on your wants/needs. I used to run this a lot before HoT was released, and I have fond memories of it. The one downside is that it’s pretty much all burst with no sustain; either things will die super fast because you killed them in a single burst, or they take a long time because Rifle and Tool Kit AA is crud on damage and you have nothing else to take their place.

i haven’t tried it in pve but i play kitless rifle engi with an SD build
grab some short recharge toolbelt skills and its a blast!
(i use utility goggles, battering ram and rifle turret, they all have really short cooldown toolbelts.)

edit, just saw foefaller mentioned SD already

More or less I have to push it towards power build and try SD.
Thank you all I will give it a try for sure.
