I know what you’re thinking, “How the heck is a staff going to fit the aesthetic of the Engi? You must be crazy!” and my answer would be, “I’m an Engineer, of course I’m crazy!”
Anyway, the real answer to your question would be; Tuning Fork/Lightning Rod (think about it!). I’m pretty sure the next question in your head is, “Isn’t a Tuning Fork more akin to a Scepter?” and the answer to that would be yes, but I chose to go with a Staff because of the abilities I have in mind.
And finally, the biggest question in your mind probably is “How the heck would that work?” Well let’s take a look at the skill ideas I have in mind and you give me your opinions and your ideas.
Skill 1:
Lightning ball; Chain Attack
Generate a ball of lightning that bounces between foes in the area, making them vulnerable.
Bounces; 3
Vuln; 1 Stack (5s)
Range; 1200
Second Chain Attack; Tezlrr’s Bolt
Generate a bolt of lightning that bounces between foes making them vulnerable
Bounces; 3
Vuln; 1 stack (5s)
Range; 1200
Third Chain Attack; Sonic Wave
Hit all targets in a straight line, deals additional damage to vulnerable foes.
Range; 1200
Skill 2:
Shattering Wave; (cast time 1/2)
Channel a sonic wave that destroys incoming projectiles and deals damage to foes in front of you.
Range; 600
Duration: 3sec
Skill 3:
Sonic Quake; Chain skill(cast time; 3/4s)
You send sonic vibrations into your staff. Tossing the staff at a target location knocks down all nearby foes.
Range; 600
Radius; 180
KD; 2sec
Blast Finisher
Chain Skill; Magnetic Tether
Leap towards the location of your staff
Skill 4:
Taser; Chain attack(cast time; instant)
Your staff is charged with electric currents. Your next attack stuns the target.
Stun; 2sec
Skill 5:
Electric Surge; (cast time 3s)
Channel an electric surge at your location. Foes caught within it take damage and are vulnerable. When the channel ends, all nearby enemies take additional damage.
Pulse Damage; 500
Blast Damage; 1200
Pulse; 1sec
Duration; 3sec
Radius; 240
Blast finisher or Lightning field.
So, tell me what you think guys!
PS: If I was a good artist I would draw and animate all these skills just to sell the idea even more but sadly I’m not
editted for more orginality.

A staff? Why not just a mace then?
First off, a staff does sound silly for an engineer, than again we have engineers running around drinking potions that turns them into tornades or makes them the size of an ant. So we left what would be logical for this class along time ago.
I would like to point out there are several heart vendors that have you pick up some auran rifle that have a variety of elemental attacks, usually electrical based to experiment on stuff with. So your thinking is well based in the world of GW2.
The biggest issue is that its a staff rather than a rifle. A staff that shoots electricity, which falls under magic not tech.
If it was a weapon kit that had a very obvious looking tesla rod kind of staff with a electrical generator backpack, then maybe. But i doesn’t work if I equip a wooden staff with a flower on the end and shoot electricity and claim its tech not magic.
Hehe but you could say that you ran conductible wires through your wooden Staff.
But yea, I see your point. A kit would be nice too.
I like the ideas. Just a couple of things. The skill 4 “Taser” is almost identical to Shield 5, and the the “dealing bonus damage to vulnerable foes” is a little redundant, don’t ya think?
However, I can definitely see myself wielding a lightning rod and feeling awesome while doing it. Heck, I’d take almost any new weapon for an engi.

Yea, in retrospect, Taser was supposed to be “your next attack stuns the target” and it kind of slipped my mind. And the “dealing bonus damage to vulnerable foes”, I just thought adding 10% more damage to the already increasing percentage would give the auto attack some hmpf.

just give engineers a nailgun kit that does bleeding and cripple attacks. but if you want a lightning weapon, instead of engineer staff, call it engineer’s conduit rod.
No, no, and more no.
Engineers are the only profession without some form of melee (Tool kit doesn’t count. Utility =/= Damage)
Give Engineers Hammers or Maces.
A Mace/Pistol or Mace Shield Engineer would be kitten.
And a hammer is not only lore friendly, but it would fill a MUCH, MUCH needed slot. Only TWO professions in the game use Hammers, and warriors barely ever use them. Only Guardians get any serious use.
Both Engineer and Hammer need some love. Why not put them together? There is no reason not to.
MAYBE if the “staff” was melee based. Engineers need SOME love for the up-close stuff.

Lol, just because Engineers don’t have hammers does not mean I can not suggest a weapon/kit idea.
I’m pretty sure they’ll give Engis hammers but, people have talked about that already. Just trying to break out of the norm.
