But i do get why so many people are complaining bout the class, or sucking with it..it`s kinda complicated to see the golden-land here…but when you`ve been there…you just don`t wanna come back anymore.

EXACTLY! I keep telling my guildies this, especially the folks that really enjoy playing a support class. Not many have believed me yet, but those that gave it a shot are now maining their engis because it is such a fun and useful and versatile class to play once you get the hang of how to play it well.

You say Engineer needs a buff, OP?

I got an 80 Engineer and Mesmer, working on Warrior and Thief now. So far I can’t figure out how to out DPS my engi. Now, with burst I can, but the grenade kit, 1600 yards, 1000+ damage per nade. Plus all the elixirs, that “Immortal Engineer” build, I’ve been getting by quite fine.

But if ANet wants to make them even better I won’t complain.

why you don`t need any of this.

After doing runs without engineers in Arah, it’s obvious to anyone with a clue that having an engineer along always improves a run a LOT and makes it much faster.

You do not NEED this, yes. Just like you need no guardians. My smoothest and fastest Arah explorable runs had 0 guardians.

See, you don’t actually need guardians, either :>

Yeah mesmer does worse damage than engi. Thief should be able to out dps engi np because they scale better and can afford to go glass cannon.

Mesmer can afford to do it too, but doesn’t matter lol.

No you don`t need a guard..all you need is the 6-heal, a regenerationeffect and that`s it..the whole rest can go simply to dps….that`s what i`m talking about.

Personally, I do think Engineers need some significant attention with an Engineer as my main, though I have a Mesmer, Guardian, Warrior and Ranger for comparison.

However, in my opinion, the attention needed is not buff oriented; they need a technical overhaul to ensure the traits and abilities are actually working first because the Engy tree is riddled with traits that don’t work properly, work at all or work as described.

It really is, in my opinion, impossible to effectively evaluate our end state when much of our basic functionality (and I include kits not keeping weapon stats here as a bug, not a ‘buff’ feature, but your opinion may vary here) is simply not performing according to the discernable specifications.

There are some clear mistakes in the construct as well (such as Magnet on Toolkit having such a long cast time, in my opinion as it greatly reduces the utility of that skill on moving targets or kit implementation as it stands) but these feel like the Engineer was just rushed into completion and not technically validated sufficiently through Q&A.

However, I can say with a straight face my Warrior and my Ranger (despite the complaints) are utter wrecking engines compared to my Engineer and far more survivable with near zero comparative effort, certainly pre-80. This may change at the top end.

I have faith this will be addressed effectively in a coming patch. What I am concerned about is how far off these basic technical correctiosn will take to make it live considering we are 2 months in at this point. Clock has been ticking and the technical state of this class, and others, is a big reason we’ve seen such frustration with players leaving.

You cannot have a competitively oriented game when basic deliverables are not complete and reliable, in my estimation. It skews the landscape too much and Engineers are a case study in the kinds of bugs that are especially frustrating and onerous to players, again, in my opinion.

Your mileage may of course vary.

Thanks for the support. I’d be happy if they just fixed the bugs

HA HA if you dont want to play support then go play another profession- maybe that y engineers dont whine and moan as much? We dont expect to do big number damage- as Eviator said dungeons and small teamed grouped events go wayyy smoother with an engineer thats because of the support they do. i know that the ‘holy trinity’ has been abolished in favour of damage/control/support and all proffessions are not equal in these areas. This is what makes the proffessions different to play – not just the animations but the whole play style. In any other mmo a support class(healing is supporting) would not expect to do high end damage- In fact i can support spec and still burn(:)) my way through Pve more so than i could in other mmos as a healer. So +1 to Anet for making Pve as a support enjoyable. . . . Theres an old saying from far distant lands – “if i wanna go to the moors i better take my thief” and this game is no different.
I love the variety and “quirkiness”

i hit guardians and warriors for 2.5k with blunderbuss. if i don’t, obviously i’m doign about 1.4k to them, and the fight will last 10 freaking minutes. every class expects a quick fight against all engineers. even i do on my own engineer because most go berserker’s stat allocation. hope for their sake i don’t find them.

As quick as the Valkyries ride,
As true as Odin’s spear flies,
There is nowhere to hide.

So the Op has leveled the two most OP classes and comes to the engineer forums to troll & gloat?
