Charr Engineer looks great, but only if you can find the right gear for him. Charr in general are hard to find really good-looking armor for (the bread-n’-butter armor generally doesn’t look so good), but if you can find a really cool and obscure skin then you can make a Charr look truly kitten.

I like my Sylvari engineer(the only salad character Ive got), though Ive always got to be careful not to set myself on fire when Im playing.

I really wanted my engineer to be a charr. mostly because the theme suited her and tha racial skills seemed rather useful but i just cant stand how charr looks in medium armor.
At least you can completely avoid the backpack clipping issue if you make a charr and somewhat if you make an asura. In the end i gave up and just made my Engineer as norn. I just have to try to ignore all the backpack clipping that’s going on. At least she looks pretty o.O

Charr are engineers lorewise, Asura are alchemist. If you go back into interviews a year ago, Anet stated that the engineer proffession got the elixers from the asura, which makes no sense because they should have just kept elixers as racials….dem mouse are jacking our proffesion….

I don’t think so. The alchemie comes from the engineers not being able to use magic and therefore having to search for a replacement. Asura are a highley magical race, I can’t see them having to rely on alchemy like that. It’s more likely that it comes from the Hylek, who are known for their potions and poisons. It was probably the Asura who refiend it later, or maybe the Charr.

You got it wrong. Engineers are not “unable to use magic”. They just don’t like it and think it is unreliable.

Charr are technologically the most advanced race far surpassing asura (asuras are masters of Alchemagic). Charr make the most reliable stuff and engineering profession came from them “recently”

As for race… Charr still i got human because i don’t like the looks of some armor on charr. Thinking of making my male human into female engineer

Really underestimated gear. Just look at all this swag, I can barely hold it. If I had pocket watch on a chain the Tyria would explode.

Charr, as they were the originators of the class (sans elixirs) and they just look awesome.

The only downside (and it can be a pretty major one) is how bad many of the medium armor sets look on Charr. Clipping and stretched textures abound; it’s made all the worse that so many medium armor sets are trenchcoats and the tail clips right through. But with the right medium armor, Charr make the best Engies in my opinion.

Asura: “exemplifying excellent engineering.”

They are the golemancers, the tinkerers, the makers of things that explode.

Asura have 47% higher engineering aptitude than Charr, and they look better doing it.

Norn make good laborers and farmhands.

Charr : if you want ratial skills and don’t care about aparence

Human/silvary: for a good looking engi

Asuran: If you don’t mind being small and wearing trench coats while having a rifle the size of a toothpick (looks really akward altho, ratial skills are really good, specially elite ones )
