Guards do have access to high levels of swiftness.
Course I got tired of constantly swapping skills in to just keep up with a zerg, which is why I use traveler runes now.
Being forced to run staff while roaming isn’t really great. Also being forced to run travelers or speed runes is not a good answer either. The only other class that I remember needing to run traveler runes was Mesmer. I definitely shouldn’t need to give up Melandru runes to have movement speed, that is way too much toughness and negative condition/stun duration to give up to move faster.
A side note, I have a 3rd Greatsword that I have a sigil of speed on just so that I can grab a bunch of pve mobs every couple minutes, kill them, switch back to my normal GS and keep moving lol… That just doesn’t seem like it should be necessary.

It’s pretty clear that we are not going to get a movement signet/trait. Travelers runes are a decent, all around PvE rune and I use them on my Ascended Zerker armor.
However, I have several sets of armor and weapons and I just converted my Assassin armor to Sinister and added Balthazar runes.
One thing people might consider is the Speed Sigil – especially when you’re in a more farmy area. You can stack several minutes of swiftness pretty easily and still run whatever rune you feel completes your build.
If you’re trying to get by with one set of gear, then you will always need to compromise in some area. Running a more than one set of gear allows you to be more specialized when you need to be.

Medi guards are as flashy as thiefs so everything is all right… A bunker spends 45 seconds to rotate out?!?! It’s all right…
We need an offensive movement speed rune set OR a trait…

Burning does no good if you are alone on the battlefield
It is a bit wonky for sure that options are limited for movement. You do have staff but even then you need to do the shuffle step to get full duration. Otherwise you will yet again fall behind. It is only a matter of time.
It is about choices though. Runes, sigils, food, traits, etc. I know on my Ranger I feel the same way as you do about lack of speed. I’d rather they remove it all or provide it as a baseline.

Traveler runes are the only way to fly. Unless you run Staff. I went traveler about 2 years ago and have never looked back. Now I run it on my Ranger and Mesmer as well. I primarily WvW, so they are a nice little buff to Golem speed also.
