3 year bug, still hasn't been fixed...
The Aegis effect is our ‘tell’, it shows other characters that we have a block prepared so they dont waste a hard hitting attack. if they got rid of it then it probably wouldnt be fair in pvp/wvw. However since the introduction of the Herald I think they could do something where there is a shield image underneath our feet? could work for when we are wearing shields so they dont cover up what they look like.

Can just make a clientside graphical toggle that turns off Aegis effects on your own character or something. I’ve had this complaint for a while, the Aegis effect is pretty ugly and it covers up a lot of stuff.
Yea they need to put option to turn off aegis on yourself out of combat.

not really an excuse. its a definitive reason.
however imo its not even noticeable enough. maybe I am not that hardcore but I can not see this effect in the heat of combat and make decision upon it. Even the buff bar is not a good visual pointer. its too small. 5 boons and you need too much time to deduct wahts up and whats not.
Since this is more of a fluff problem the best soultion is to simply have a seprate visual effects toggle for aegis on yourself and/or enemies – but who cares if they look stupid.
i woulda made aegis look like the light aura, but i guess that’s a nogo
