Battle Presence has been “fixed” this patch.

It now immediately reapplies after falling off on players around you (instead of a 2-3s delay) so it literally applies as fast as your own. Also, it’s “smart” and ignores targets that already have a friendly Battle Presence on them and picks ones that don’t.

Healing output is WAY up.

IMO the only reason why it’s worth taking over pure of voice is still because PoV is bugged on HtL!.

Or if you have 30 virtues for the 2 consecration traits and resolve trait I guess…

IMHO I rather have AH than Absolute Resolution. More toughness = better survivability.

Battle Presence is well worth it now though.

It’s better than PoV in a healing build imo. 200ish/sec to everyone in party is nice.

My only gripe, and this basically applies to all Guardian heals, is that it has a short range. It’s pretty lame when I gimp my damage to get heals that don’t even hit half the party if they are ranged.

AH is one of the two OP traits, of course it’s better than AR. I personally went without it because I am focusing on a) healing my party and b) critting for EM/vigor procs.

Well, it’s free passive healing for people around you. In most dungeons you’re usually near your party and in WvW you’re guaranteed to have people around you.

Well, it’s free passive healing for people around you. In most dungeons you’re usually near your party and in WvW you’re guaranteed to have people around you.

600 range isn’t all that far away though. Next time you run a dungeon with some ranged players who are dodging out of red circles, check to see how often it is up on them. I think you’ll be unpleasantly surprised.

Same goes for traits like Selfless Daring, they become somewhat underwhelming when you aren’t actually healing the ranged guy who needs it.

Yet another reason to stack melee characters I guess, as if the superior damage wasn’t enough.

So, you know I’m a big DPS Guardian. Love it.

However, we were run’n around with a small group of us against much larger zerg’s and I decided to put on my healing / +boon duration gear, I know right?!, and I have to say…

The change is AWESOME.

I was tick’n for 208 on allies w/ only +1100 healing (still kept my zerker weapons). Combining this with our Ele’s tick and then the Ele and myself chianing regen… we were seeing over 600 per sec ticks.

Then if everyone combines mango pies for anotehr 85 per tic…

Lot’s of ~passive~ healing.

For the small squad’s running together, this is an incredible fix.

Even without 20 on virtues its good, specially against DoTs. Also it Affects NPCs so is good for escort DEs.

I usually run some kind of frontline tanky support build and I must say, I was sad that Battle Presence was broken for so long. Now I am quite the happy knight in shining armour!
Although I wish Pure of Voice was fixed, there are times when I use it. Surely it can’t be that hard a fix? That and having a grandmaster trait that doesn’t work (let alone having two as it was previously) is quite disheartening.

I’m racking my brain trying to figure out a way to have Battle Presence and Absolute Resolution while making up for the fact that I no longer have as much crit damage, toughness, or Altruistic Healing. I’ll think of something, but jeez. It’s so much better now, it’s really hard not to want to do that.

Presumably you’re tanking your damage by using healing gear anyway, crit damage doesn’t matter when you’re not critting or your power is super low. AH is a loss though.

I personally go 0/15/5/30/20, the might spam from killing enemies is somewhat nice though not really useful on bosses.

foofad – you can check out the “healway” Guardian build. gear is pretty much all cleric’s so you’ll get a lot of toughness there. as mentioned, your crit chance is virtuall non-existent. so your best source of dmg would be power. and by no means do you hit softly, and i still notice crits here and there using this build. when you can’t be downed, you’ll definitely outlast your opponents, and be able to take them down.

lookign forward to giving battle presence a shot! and as someone mentioned, now if they’ll fix the other Grandmaster trait! ; ))

It’s possible to actually not use shouts too (I love them, BTW). In that case Pure of Voice is not “better”, doing nothing. And not everybody uses runes of the soldier (I believe they to be great runes, but they do kind of force you to use shouts, unless you have other armor sets of course.) I am running a Battle Presence build with full consecrations-surprising even me, for I usually have at least one shout-focusing on Mace/Shield with Staff for comboing both symbols on the enemy (not for AH, since I am not running that at the moment); it’s hard to die at all, I keep others alive, grant stability when really needed, relieve conditions, and reflect missiles… so one of my best builds ever (if not the best, but “best” will always be a subjective/relative value.)

Granted, Battle Presence does NOTHING for you, being pretty much a selfless trait which you use to help others. For that reason alone, I love it (and isn’t keeping others alive and well kind of “helping yourself” in a way?)

Oh pffbttbthgbt, I can’t stand healing gear. No, I want Battle Presence and my DPS cake too. 0/30/10/30/0 is kind of interesting.
