Hello everyone,

I was just wondering a couple of things. I started a guardian a couple of days ago and im really enjoying it.
I plan to do some spvp with it and also tpvp.
Now is greatsword/hammer viable in tpvp and spvp? If so could you give me any tips/example builds.

My other question is about burst builds. Do guardian have good burst builds if so can you give me some examples.
I would really appreciate all the help you guys could give me.

A Spirit weapon build with greatsword/hammer can do some very good burst, I dont sPvP much but it works well in WvW, just activate your weapons, pull em in with greatsword 5, swap to hammer, lock em in with ward, get the hammer AA chain off, use hammer 2 for dmg and combo, punt them away, use the hammers root, swap back to greatsword, leap at them, spin, rinse and repeat

Hammer is very viable, and Greatsword would be a more support orientated weapon for condition removal and occasional group CC. In tPvP, you could really run either of those as long as you are designed to be the best fit for your assigned role in the team. Hammer’s playstyle being a little bit more difficult to adjust to… but according to several therads on here, it’s viable for competitive pvp.

I once swapped some of my major traits around in my defensive Shout build, so it became a more damage oriented meditation build with a Greatsword and a Hammer and it worked quite well. Hammer provides good damage and control, and so does the Greatsword. The build was a good middle-ground between offense and defense.

Both hammer and greatsword are viable in sPvP and tPvP. Hammer tends to be in more defensive support builds, whereas greatsword is more for raw offense.

On the topic of spirit weapons, they’re terrible in PvP except for spirit hammer. Spirit sword can do decent damage if it can hit, but it’s just way too easy to kite and limit its attacks.

I love my spiritweapons in PvP. I usually go with either my sword and hammer, but sometimes swap to shield hammer.
You can burst your enemy really good with such a setup. You can try to kite it, but when I knock someone down with the hammer, as soon as they get up use chains of light, and then plant the sword, it’s usually over and done for my opponent.
