Guardian Health Post Beta
To be honest, specially comming from GW1 where every naked profession had exactly the same stats (and with armor, being low armor didn’t mean worse as you got extra energy and energy regeneration from your armor), I’m still exceptical at the HP tiers- In fact, HP tiers are greater than armor tiers (if you count the “free atribute points” on vitality and toughness from each tier), and armor at least have a logical explantion for being better.
But it’s how they’re balanginc the game now. Supposedly professions with lower HP have better access to survival and/or bursts (but then you wonder why Warrior kicks so hard…), but the thing with “access to” when balancing a profession with that in mind, is that it forces you to go in that direction so your lower HP is compensated.
At least it seems to be working for now. I still would’ve liked equal HPs for everyone (my first 2 characters are both low end HP, Thief and Guardian, I’m doing very well with them, but I get jelly of others HP bars) but the way it is, apparently it’s working well.

Guardian’s are more susceptible to burst damage because of the lower health pools, but in terms of longevity and self-healing capabilities we are better than Warriors in endurance battles. Also, we are capable of basically giving other classes the same self-healing we receive with Battle Presence + symbols.
My thief for example has a handful of passive self healing abilities, but they require you to attack your targets. It’s a big difference.

Most of a Guardians ability to heal, abilities or otherwise, have been nerfed completely into the ground. Stacking HP and traiting for heals/symbol spreads is pretty much a subpar build at this point. In WvW most Guardians have taken to running AH equivalent builds, minor changes in some builds and preferences but the viability doesn’t exist as it used to. Opening up more defensive options via stats on the Guardian and other classes to be in line with base pools on other classes might allow more build options. Consecrations and mediation are just whats left of what the Guardian was, not that it’s a weak profession at all. There’s just simply no justification for an 8k health disparity, that’s simply bland balance.
