Guardian Honor Line, Adept Traits...
It does seem the honor line is more PvP based nowadays.
So… I’m generally not too concerned with the changes coming in for guards… but I am a bit confused about the Honor line. Pure of Voice is pretty awesome here and the other traits are pretty decent.
What I don’t get are the Adept traits…
- Invigorated Bulwark: Gain increased healing power, each worth up to 50 attribute points (based on effective level) for a period of time each time you block an attack while wielding a mace. Stacks up to 10 times. Mace abilities have 20% reduced recharge.
- Protective Reviver: Activate a shield of absorption when you begin reviving an ally (24 second internal cooldown). Upon successful revival, you and each ally gain aegis, protection , and regeneration for 10 seconds.
- Protector’s Impact: Create a symbol of protection when you take falling damage. You take 50% less damage when falling.
I don’t usually plate with mace nor do I block often, but I do love me some shout increases, Selfless Daring, and some Staff fun…. but if I am being forced to take an adept trait… I see the following problems:
- Invigorated Bulwark – I don’t use a mace often… and most of the benefits are really “meh”
- Protective Reviver – I’ve never even traited this. It might be good for SPvP I hear, but why would I use this in PvE or anything? I don’t want to randomly knockback mobs from an AOE cluster when I’m trying to rez a teammate real quick. I also don’t want to randomly knockback a boss when we’re all stacking and I’m rezzing… I mean I guess with HoT coming out there might be some use for this as combat is supposedly more “movement based”.
- Protector’s Impact – Good for JPs and running away in WvW I guess?
So it pretty much feels like a wasted Adept trait choice? Am I wrong?
yes, those traits are trash. welcome to the guard forums. might i interest u in another thread?
indeed. anet did not care for our suggestions
Well, since Zeal gives 20%vs foes in symbols, the mace trait will see great use in pve…. conider the rest of the trait a: meh, its free, so why the hack not?
Invigorated Bulwark will likely be the go-to trait as Mace seems to be the replacement for main-hand sword even in a DPS builds. The heal stacks are kinda ‘meh’, but the reduced cooldowns is going to be it’s biggest selling point.
Protective Reviver can be useful in PvP/WvW, but the odd knockback makes it unfavorable for PvE. The boons are pretty good.
Protector’s Impact: Meh, falling damage trait.
The funny thing is that invigorated bulwark actually synergizes better with the focus than it does with the mace. Note it says “while wielding a mace”, so the focus blocks should proc the healing boost as well.
I’ll probably end up using the revive trait though, I ran them both before and now they’re condensed into one.
Not a huge loss considering there are wasted traits right now if you use specific weapons with certain lines. This isn’t new.
While this in itself isn’t a large or new problem, I do feel it is an issue that we can’t take lower tier traits into higher ones.

the adept traits in Honor need to be moved around this line is becoming stagnant and offers nothing to players but shout support the master and grandmasters have 2 maybe 3 traits that are useful but the res of the line is trash and thats a kitten shame to the most necessary line in all WvW builds since the launch of the game.
i mean its nice to see Zeal being put in a good place but did Honor need to suffer and be pushed into obscurity so soon? how are we supposed to support our party with such lackluster traits as these, in every thread i post in i hope people agree with me about these changes. :/
Guild Wars 2: waiting for content simulator.
- Protector’s Impact – Good for JPs and running away in WvW I guess?
No. Only on JP. All falling traits are a dead slot. They should add a secondary effect on all of them (like they did with Thief).
I do agree. The Adept of Honor is lackuster. (/troll on) But they made this line better with the nerfs on other lines (/troll off).
