The easiest way to calculate coefficients would checking the damage tooltip change after increasing your power by 100. I’m not sure of any stat combinations that can add up to exactly 100, but there are some consumables that do. To get all of your weapon skill coefficients, open your hero tab then go to the weapon skills section. Write down all the damage in all the tooltips. Pop a 100 power consumable. Check all the damage again. Subtract the difference. Divide by 100. This should give you up to the hundreth level of accuracy, since you are using exactly 100 power difference. This will not work for chain attacks since the weapon skill section doesn’t show them. You’ll have to equip the respective weapon to check those. Remember that your weapon damage and power stat will affect the tooltips, so don’t change them around for before and after comparisons.

I’ll probably do this to double check your work.

This thread should be stickied.

Okay I’m stupid, I just remembered the mists. No need to buy consumables, just use runes. One set stacked to 3 for +75, another for a single bonus of +25 for an easy 100 power.

Edit#2: Oookay, I just started off with sword autos and already got differing values. 100 power translates to 29 on the first two swings, and 54 on the third (all together), translating to coefficients of 0.29 for the first and second swing, and 0.54 on the third, did you do something wrong? I also got a coefficient of 0.08 for sword #2. How exactly did you calculate your coefficients?

Edit#3: Just finished my guardian calculations… all your coefficients are high.

foofad explains the calculation method in his second post, here, and also the formula is alluded to on the damage page of the wiki here

nb. Tooltips assume an armor value of 2600

If u use the damage formula in wiki, I think that foofad values are correct.

Edited because i said something wrong about strength being a diminishing return on power.

Don’t
Say
Diminishing
Returns

That is just wrong.

Damage DOES scale linearly. Do you know what that means? It means there is no exponent. Do you see an exponent anywhere in that formula? No? Good.

I did math stupidly, totally forgot the 2600 armor. I ended up getting weirdass numbers that were 2.5x less than the appropriate value.

Anyway, this seems like something that should be really easy to excel-ify.

Tooltip = Coefficient*Weapon Damage*Power/2600 (at lvl 80)
Coefficient = Tooltip/Weapon Damage/Power*2600 (at lvl 80)
Weapon Damage = Attack – Power = Upper Range of Damage on Weapon

Skill Tooltip Weapon Damage Power Coefficient
Bane Signet 415 1111 1560 0.659987277
Signet of Wrath 104 1111 1560 0.165394402
Smite Condition (With) 788 1111 1560 1.253180662
Smite Condition (Without) 353 1111 1560 0.561386768
Judge’s Intervention 207 1111 1560 0.329198473

Conflagrate 504 819 3392 0.471698113
Affliction 504 819 3392 0.471698113
Judgement 1766 819 3392 1.652815214

Edit: Ewww formatting, looked cleaner in textbox.

Not to be a pedant, but “linearly” means that when you graph it, it takes the form of a line. It doesn’t have anything to do with exponents specifically although exponential equations are not linear. When you plot [(Coefficient * Weapon Damage * Power) / Armor] with Armor as the only variable, the result is a curve. If you plot it with Power as the only variable, it’s linear: Damage scales linearly with Power (or coefficient, or weapon damage), but on a curve with Armor.

The way he was saying things implied that he thought that power somehow did not scale linearly. It is not power^1/2, it is not log(power), it is not sin(power). Every point of power corresponds to the same amount of damage. Toughness, however is in the denominator. Dividing things is the same as multiplying by ^-1, an exponent. Damage does not scale linearly with toughness.

Yeah i made a mistake. Mixed up power and toughness.
Perhaps u should edit your post to state that damage scales linearly with power to be correct because its not exactly correct now,
As far as i know, bane signet/signet of wraith/smite condition/judge’s intervention all have their own weapon strength(not sure whether they are the same but i reckon its different judging by the numbers) regardless of the weapon u equip. U can test it out easily in heart of the mist by equipping a steady weapon n a normal pvp weapon.

So im interested to know how u derive the number of weapon strength 1111?

Was using a hammer, noticed attack damage stat only looks at upper range, not average.

Tooltip damage uses the average weapon strength and not attack according to wiki. Utilities and elite has their own average weapon strength so u cant calculate the coefficient of smite conditions/bane signet based on your hammer average weapon strength.
I tested it out in pvp mode, by equipping a steady gs and a normal pvp weapon gs. If smite conditions was affected by weapon strength. The damage of smite conditions will be different if its affected by ur equipped weapon strength but they are the around the same in both cases

Attack is functionally useless. Tooltip damage does indeed take into account the average of the weapon damage spread but there’s no reason you can’t use the upper or lower bounds for theorycrafting.

Utilities use 1000 for weapon damage, for their tooltip damage.
