Guardian Viability in light of Druid Reveal
Druid heals and cleanses. That is all it does. It does those things very well yes, but thats absolutely it. It is a backline healer, not support.
Guard still has low CD shouts out the yingyang, area Aegis off several skills, plus layered condi removal, but more importantly, condition reversal. I don’t want my conditions gone, I want them made to support me.
Guardian still fills its niche of support on the front line with shouts, and might stacking from staff.
Dragon Hunter is just all sorts of confused though. I love the Longbow, but traps simply do not fit.

1. Healing and cleansing are support, and a backline healer is a support.
2. Healing and cleansing are not all that it does; it’s just what the spec focuses on. It has quite a fair bit of CC (as the poster above you post points out), the spec was seen to be doing quite a fair bit of damage in the spec video, it has some projectile defense, and it also has a supportive damage buff in the form of Glyph of Empowerment.
I don’t think druids will replace guardians or anything though. I’m just pointing this out.
Group stability = you still need guards in WvW.
On top of this group support is not just healing, in fact that is one of the least important aspects. It is about condi control primarily which the Guard excels at, and boon uptime. Admittedly this pigeon holes us into trooper runes, shouts, pure of voice but for group support shouts is predominantly where you want to be.
Raw healing is kind of meh without first addressing these condis/boons. It’s all well and good to throw out a 3 k heal on someone. Not really a game changer if they are stuck in AoE from a 6 second immob with poison, torment, confusion and 8 burn stacks.

Druid = Healer
Dragon Hunter = Tank
Not going to lie. . . when the Guardian tomes were gone I pretty much was too. I picked up Guard because of how I felt when I played it. I didn’t pick it up to be a boon bot. The enjoyment has dwindled for me. If we ever get tomes back I’ll definitely be back though!
Druid looks fun and it reaaally looks like they pick pocketed those tomes quite a bit. I can’t resist and it’ll probably end up being something I play quite often. Plus that +33% speed thing. Mygod. No more tortoise pace. Yay! xD

I have a love-hate relationship with druids. On one hand, they borderline stole tomes from guardians. On the other hand, they’re the closest thing to using tomes again until the supposed tome elite spec gets released. As a result, I’ll probably be playing one quite a lot. :>
Edit: I love how they even use the same animations for celestial form that were used for Tome of Courage.

They ruined the heal role of guardians………..they just ruined this class with the druid, and they took us away 1 of the best and unique mechanic “the tomes” (especially the heal tome) to add it to another class………..rly anet???? This is a huge disappointment……….
