Hi guys, I’m debating whether to reduce some hp and exchange for more healing power, or crit chance/crit damage

Currently i’m using full power/vit/toughness armor with solider runes, back piece (knight stats), 2 accessories (power/toughness/vit), 2 rings and neck (knight stats).

My stats:
attack: 3103
crit chance 24%, crit damage 37
armor: 3240
health: 18535, healing power: 300

I want to reduce my hp to 16.5k-15k.

Any suggestions?

Definitely not crit chance, since your build doesn’t focus on crits. Your build mainly focuses on survivability, so I’d say go even further with that and exchange some Hp for Healing Power. But, even then, I can’t give a complete answer because I don’t know the traits you use or the skills you use. With your current build, I would assume you’d use a build like 0/15/30/20/5. At least, that’s the build I would recommend with the current armor you’re using. Going back to your question, adding a tiny bit more crit would not do anything for the build you’re using at the moment. Healing power most definitely will. Hope this helps

Alternately, get rid of the soldier’s stuff and exchange it all for berserker or knight gear. Your damage output will skyrocket and you won’t even notice the loss in survivability, if there is any.

P/V/T is probably universally the worst set in the game so there’s really no reason to take it unless you really have nothing else to use in its place.

Knights w/ Soilder Runes would be a good starting point. Once you’re comfortable, you can contemplate Zerker gear or moving to Lyssa/Scholar/Centaur Runes.

i can’t comment as far as healing power goes – working on a set to test out (but got put on hold cause of le holidays heh). that being said, i used to run a full knight’s set. high dmg, extremely survivable. and i go tmy P/V/T set as many people swore by it. but i felt more squishy and fared a lot better in my full knight’s gear.

that being said, if your build doesn’t use crits as much, i would too focus more on healing power and you can test that out. but again, really depends on the rest of your build, traits and play style – so would be helpful if you shared that perhaps. : )) so if you’re looking to do more crits and play off that instead, knight’s would be a good choice and up your precision / crit chance % massively. but if you want to stick with more healing, then go for healing power (probs cleric’s as well, again, due to the low crit chance, but you can mix and match with magi’s if you prefer)

Thanks guys for the suggestions.

I use Hammer (sigil of hydromancy) and Sword(sigil of life)/focus (sigil of energy)
My trait is 0 0 30 30 10, My main build works around altur-healing and shouts, and I thought of using empowering might to get more might => also heals a bit from the boon(the reason i have some crit right now).

Im not too worried about condition removal, that’s why i’m willing to lower my hp inexchange for some crit or healing.

I’m unsure of the knight gear cuz i dont know if high crit chance with low crit damage can boost my damage by much.

Currently my play style is usually jump into a large group and create chaos and confusion.

I believe both knight gear and mix cleric + solider gear are good for survival but i’ll give a try on the knight gears for now since it has more toughness

A full soldier set isn’t very effective since power alone won’t do the kind of damage that a balanced amount of power/crit chance/crit damage will. Some knight’s armor and berserker will boost your damage output greatly.

Healing power in my estimation isn’t that effective unless you go all the way, and even then it’s just a bit disappointing. A few hundred extra healing doesn’t make a big enough difference when the base healing is already at 4,500+ and so on.

37 crit damage isn’t a bad start (our benefit from having crit damage and toughness in the same trait line), if you can get it to around 50+ you can always boost it with food buffs and so on. I think you will notice a difference without sacrificing too much survivability.

I get the advice to run with full knight or kinght/zerker but
1) crit in a hammer build is pretty importat for AH. heal power is a weak/poor state in nearly all guardian setups.
2) why drop the solider runes, when we dont know if the guy is playing SPvP, WvW or dungeons. Yea if we are talking SPvP i agree that solider runes are kinda bad, but both in WvW (small scale) and especially in dungeons the solider runes/shout build is pretty much the strongest build.

i use similar build and is awsome for small scale pvp. i play in WvWvW and you should not overestimate critical. Guardian damage also come from retailation and the burst come combined with judge’s intervention / virtue of justice

You will notice Healing Power on your build as soon as you sacrifice a bit of Hit Points.

I generally don’t believe having tons of Hit Points is necessary for most Guardians, since they can avoid damage altogether quite easily, as well as get rid of conditions quick. Too low, maybe not, but 13,805+ Hit Points is fine (and probably less as well, depending on player/playstyle/build.) The situtations I usually get defeated involve many players attacking me at once, in which case not even 19,000 will help (especially with such low Healing Power-the signet can only do so much to heal so many Hit Points.)

Since you have a very good attack, I would just craft/acquire an additional set of Cleric’s armor and see where that gets me (paired with the same accessories you currently have.) That way you can get used to the slight loss of power. IMHO, you won’t probably miss those few thousands of Hit Points. The build would be similar with less Power and Hit Points, but decent Healing Power that will keep you alive better, IME, than just a high pool of Hit Points and few ways to recover it due to poor Healing Power.

Even though your build is not Precision based, it is never a bad thing, especially since you seem to be using Honor, and you get 5 seconds of Vigor per critical, cooldown notwithstanding.

Before hating Healing Power, always try it for yourself FIRST-math and cold “logic” doesn’t tell the whole story, especially if Healing Power ends up suiting your playstyle. Itms OK to dislike it, of course, but too many people despise things they haven’t even tried, perhaps due to general bad press/word of mouth.

If your going for the synergy between AH and EM you will want a much higher crit chance. For higher crit chance and damage use zerk gear.
