This is my alt that just recently reached 80. I ran a variety of builds while leveling, mainly Hammer and GS builds. I want to try something a little different now. This is going to be a mainly WvW and dungeons. I want something based on AoE and Crit damage (I find cond. damage to be very lack luster unless you are a necro) but I also want some decent survivability.

this is what I’m think of and I would like your opinion and suggestions on making it better.

Your ehp is pretty low, especially for WvW. IMHO you would be better off dropping points from radiance and putting them into valor + honor. Then swap out the signet of toughness for something else… you will gain more than 10% damage reduction by raising toughness anyway, so it’s not that useful.

You might also consider swapping out full zerker gear for a mix of zerker and knights or zerker and valk.

If you have a higher base hp, you could then swap out the mango pie for butternut pumpkin soup (+crit dmg/chance) food.

Also, this is partly personal preference but Judge’s Intervention is super useful in WvW as a gap closer.

Thanks for the input. Since I already have the zerker armor I’ll opt for replacing my trinkets for Valk and Knights except for the rings which will be ascended Zerker/Valk unless I can find something thats gives a similar combo as the rest. Exotic Cavalier backpiece with a beryl jewel.

This is my first time using Buildcraft and I wonder if it is taking into account the passive healing from teh Dolyak signet and the food when calculating for eHP so I’m unsure if that figure is entirely accurate. I do get a base HP of around 16k. The reason I went with the Mango was to add a little more sustainability, the sigils of perception and accuracy are the main source of crit %.

As for the signet of judgement, I think that perfect inscriptions increases it to 20% instead of 10%. please correct me if I am wrong. Would this also alter the eHP value?

I will keep playing around with this see if I can come up with some alternatives.

Edit:
just found info perfect inscription. I must have misread it the first time. It raises passive effect by 20% so I believe I would only be getting 12% DR from signet of judement. Not really worth a grandmaster.

Edit:
After hours of more theory crafting, I’ve come up with this build here
http://gw2buildcraft.com/calculator/guardian/?3.4|6.1g.h8|b.1g.h17.d.1g.h1|1g.7x.1g.7x.1c.7x.1g.7x.1c.7x.1g.7x|2s.0.2t.0.2s.0.1g.67.1g.67.1c.0|0.f2.p54.k29.a6|39.7|v.13.11.17.1k|e
I get slightly lower power and crit chance and a lower base HP but much better DR and crit damage as well as higher eHP. Along with a that gap closer you suggested. I’ll be testing this one out over the next few weeks.

Sorry about the double post. Just want to bump this to ask another question.

Which is better, Rune of the Dolyak to get the passive healing or Rune of the Soldier to get the condi removal on shout?

Soldier rune also gives me a a higher eHP but a lower DR

I’m kind of at a toss up at the moment.

If you’re looking at Staff as a main weapon AH is hard to pass up. The healing from Empower is just huge. So if you want to take advantage of that you’re looking at least 30 Valor and 20 Honor. After that I’d personally go with the 0/15/30/20/5 build to take advantage of Virtues also. Scepter is great in PvE but it lacks in WvW as its easy to dodge or run away from the shots. May want to simply run GSword instead in WvW to take advantage of 2h Mastery. Pay attention to Crit n Crit Dmg for the best increase in damage as most gear should already run Power. The calculator shows Effective Power, and even though it’s not a comparison of damage output across different weapons or classes it will give you a feel for more effective gearing and traits per individual weapon. Improving your Effective Power does pay off in game.

Omnomberry Pie is still a noticeable heal and I’m always running it even after the patch/nerf/fix.

Thanks for the tips.

Yeah, I kind of notice that I was missing a lot with the sceptor in WvW. I will probably switch to GS for that. I was debating 0/15/30/20/5 but couldn’t decide which I valued most AH or Consecrations (ground or duration). I guess since consecrations are situational and I would be better off with AH.

I think I will be settling on this for now

When Perception is maxed I’ll be sitting at 3.7k ePower and up to over 5K with stacks of Might yet still maintain good sustainability.

thanks again for you help guys
