Ok I see that, I forgot that that trait only meant aegis and not blocks. I am an avid mace user, its a fantastic weapon! I concede that I do not play bunker that often, i usually run mediation for pvp. Ok well I guess I will have to try it out when the change comes. I’m not fully convinced that its more usable but we shall see.

I am more of a pve guy so I am pretty biased on focus I will admit.

No worries :P. I just speak out of experience from the class. It’s mostly something you’ll have to experience yourself in order to be convinced. I do agree mace is a great weapon! Main weapon for when I bunk in Solo Queue.

no one talks abbout that the Shield 5 also Heals for 1300+ you and everyone arround you if you press it again befor it ends for maximum usage.

it will heal every 30 sec instead of every 40 sec now.

Guardian does not have a heal on block trait, the only trait that heals on block is Pure of Heart and that only procs off blocks with Aegis. If you mean AH with MotD 200-300 Health gained total is not not much better, in fact shield popping will give you at least 3 to 4 times more healing. 3 blocks from Focus 5 is generally good for alot of things but against more than one person in Spvp it loses power, granted its not traited 3 blocks on a kitten CD easily disposed of with trash AA’s or multi hit skills from range. Shield will shine there with the projectile absorption(they need to fix the length cause atm its 2s instead of 4), with the possibility of mitigating more damage from projectiles than the 3 of block anything would(absorbing nade spam and blocking a ranger’s rapid fire targeting a ally.).

Ideally the best set to use shield with, is mace, due to the fact the skills compliment each other. Especially if you use Writ of the Merciful for symbol heals that would already provide regen from Mace 2. So Regen, and protection from shield 4 mixed with selfless daring rolls. You’ll also have a block with mace 3 on a pretty low CD, and a projectile absorption bubble.

Shield has its place among guardian bunker builds in Spvp and even some groups in WvW. It just doesn’t shine well with solo play and and DPS builds. Now as far as torch goes, it’ll be much better now, more chances to throw, and or bait out dodges. It won’t be anything too major though aside from more frequent nuking,

Honestly, I see focus being better for bunker builds as well. The blinds, regen, condi removal, and blocks go a lot further to mitigate damage than the paltry 5 seconds (or worse, 3 in sPvP) of shield 4 protection. The shield bubble is even worse because it requires a channel in order to stay up, which prevents you from doing other more useful things like attacking, healing, or dodging.

Right now the only thing shield has going for it is the knockback, and no amount of cooldown reduction without tweaking the skills themselves is going to change that.

They should remove the channel on #5 (and keep the CD reduction) and add a new effect on #4 instead of reducing the CD. The #4 is too boring.

Also, for God’s sake, increase the duration on protection on #4 to 5 secs on PvP, this the the most nonsense of all times. There is no reason, at all, to be 3 secs.

The scaling of the heal is terrible for SoAbsorption, increasing your healing power by 1000 takes the heal from SoA up by about 200 points(lol). Im all for giving those that havnt specced into healing power a good baseline heal with the skill, which it has. But it really needs to be upscaled for those that invest in healing power.

Maybe for solo play or holding points it could be ok but for group play a blast finisher ever 4 seconds on hammer is just too good to pass up. Water fields, fire fields, smoke fields, etc etc. And well, the staff is pretty much the be all end all group weapon.

-VIII zeal trait “Glorious jump”
-Increase range of Mighty Blow skill to 600 but decrease number of targets to 3 and increase its CD by 0.5 sec

Hammer could use some reduced cast times, particularly with the symbol, and the ability to move while casting the ring. Sword needs to have the third hit in the autoattack chain reworked as well as improvements to make the 3 skill hit more reliably. Some sort of cripple or chill for it certainly wouldn’t hurt, either.

or use it when a warrior switches to a Gun/Bow and stop his burst

or knock people away from you then fast Blow it up for that extra healt

or troll and knock people down from places

or just use it for some small defense and aoe healing in a 3v3 situation

or use it to stop the enemy using a finisher on your teamate

But thats exactly what it does…. Shield 5 does not stop people from hitting you because they still can walk through the bubble and the projectile defense is ridiculously short.

Guardian shield does not bring anything better than what we already have access to. This is the problem with shield, because there is never a reason to bring it over another weapon. You can get perma-protection from hammer and superior reflects from utilties and sword without gimping yourself by equipping a shield.

A shield should have the best defense abilities for guard (because its a fricking shield) and currently it does not, and no amount of cooldown reduction will change that.

I find Banish to be very useful in PvP, but there isn’t really a build that support using the Hammer in a Bunker Build.

My problem with the Hammer is that three of its skills are situational. In mundane situations you only use the auto-attack and the blast. It’s skills are fine because you need that sort of niche skills, but a knockback and a slow-moving root is something the Guardian only occasionally need and they’re both on the Guardian.

it only does that if a braindead person uses it.

you know i wont gonna stand there channeling the bubble while i see a warrior walk in and start using hundred blades…………. the moment an enemy walks through it i blow it up for the heal and keep fighting.

permaprotection from hammer ? the weapon that is sooo slow that you get knocked and cced arround befor you can land that last hit while also doing dmg utterly slowly ?

Sure the shield needs more buffs but it has good abilities just need tweaking.
