Searing Flames
It has a 20 second cooldown – but the kicker is that it’ll trigger on burn regardless of whether an opponent has a boon or not – so 95% of the time it will go on CD without triggering it’s intended effect
Thankfully the developers are considering a buff to it, reducing the cooldown to 10 seconds for the December patch. But even then it’s not really worth taking.

Hey all! Just wanted to say that it’s on the list in the future to only have searing flames (and other similar effects) trigger only when your target has a boon.

It’s still pretty rubbish even if the recharge is reduced. It’ll be competing against 10% 1h damage and 15% 1h crit. If you decide to stick with a 2h and grab searing flames one boon removal every 10 seconds is nothing when a) can’t be guaranteed it will strip the boon you wanted, such as prot/stab, b) boons are constantly reapplied.
Neat. I imagine that’s also going to apply to condition-removing triggers like Sigil of Purity?
What about purely time-based effects like Signet of Resolve?

Honestly it would make sense for those to remove the first incoming condition immediately, and then every 10 seconds after if a condition is present, if not, wait for a new condition to be applied and remove it, start timer again.

So I’m guessing this means you fix Sigil of Nullification?

I wonder what your basis for comparison is…”

Don’t waste your time.
“Your target is unable to apply boons while burning”
“Your target is unable to apply boons while burning”
Nah; your trait shouldn’t prevent the enemy you have targeted from applying boons because someone else set them on fire (and your target shouldn’t be able to apply boons again just because you clicked on another target). If they wanted to run with this concept, the right way to do it is probably to invent a new condition that prevents boon application (“tainted”?), and then have a trait that applies that new condition when you apply burning.
I’m not sure that’s a good idea for a condition, though. Maybe one that just makes boons expire faster…

Not sure that is better … the cooldown for Active VoJ is longer than the ICD of Searing Flames. The only advantage is if you trait Rad 15.
my other issue … it’s not useful for PVE. It would be preferable if Anet could make traits useful in some way for all game aspects.
They give news on low priority fixes and nothing on day0 guardian core issues …
This doesn’t smell good for the future.
Anyway congrags to the OP, you got an official answer !
