Ummmm tome of wrath is horrible in wvw…. The daze takes forever and a year to cast, smiters boon does not affect the guardian, quickness and fury are ok, but 3s of quickness is honestly very weak after the nerf, and the #1 skill scales horribly with power. Maybe in a condition heavy build it might be ok, but even running full dps it was very very weak. All you are really left with is a decent weakness/cripple bouncing skill, and buffing your allies, while not contributing much to actual damage yourself.

Smiter’s boon now affects you, the quickness has been increased to 5s and the daze “only” takes 2s to cast (3s AoE daze should require a decent cast time). Also the first skill is ranged and aoe, two things that every guardian in WvW would love to have.

Wiki needs an update then, but still running 10/25/10/25 for 30% extra damage in a pure zerker build in spvp hits for about 1.4k on a heavy golem, compared to 1.1k for staff auto attack with same set up (1.3k if I feel like using empower), and I also get to keep my elite, heal, and utilities. Also, the daze requires you to stand still, which is pretty much horrible in wvw, It is great that boon now effects guardians, but even then you might as well use a staff that gives you access to all of your abilities, and has half the buffs (some even stronger) than an elite gives. As I said, the only awesome ability on the elite is affliction, just because it gives cripple/weakness/good damage.

Well they could ( and should, imo ) make the quickness be castable while moving. As for the autoattack, it applies burning and staff only has 600 range. It’s abilities are definitely not awesome but it’s not as bad as many people depict it :P

There should be more options for Elites, however our current choices are far from grim, Renewed Focus is superb with an AH build and when rightly used can save you from the worse, Tomes are more situational but can have some solid use if coordinated with the group to benefit the most from it.

More skills should probably come in the upcoming expansion.

Yeah, really op! As soon, as you pop a Tome the whole enemy party pops every CC they have at you and you go down like a god, because every skill you have takes an eternity to cast…..

If you would at least get a full heal only for yourself out of the kittening 120s cooldown……

I find that Renewed Focus is the worst of the three (playing WvW). Tome of Courage can be very helpful when taking down gates, or fighting foes outnumbered. Tome of Wrath I always have equipped, simply because it’s a great source of ranged AoE damage, and it deals a lot more damage then most think. The party wide quickness and fury from Tome of Wrath should not be underestimated either.

You aren’t playing your guardian right if you don’t see Renewed Focus as an extremely valuable ability. Like most things in this game, abilities compliment each other and have secondary benefits.

Check the evasion, block, and invulnerability spam at the start of the movie below. That is a lot of damage, CC. and cooldowns that get blown on me and not the other three people with me. Also, depending on builds there are other benefits. Popping my virtues before RF gives my group heals and buffs and puts out a lot of retaliation damage.

90% of my GW2 time is spent in WvW doing counter-zerg or ZvZ stuff, so I like running with Tome of Wrath right before we plow into the enemy group. Five seconds of quickness at the initial meld is a nice advantage to have.

You just got AE-Damage, no CC or focus there, otherwise you would have been toast, jumping in without stability. I know that video, aktually thought that this guy is lucky that he gets ignored by most enemys and almost dies by casual AE-effekts aimed at someone else…..
