No. Attacks, in this case, refer to direct damage. The example given on that quote you mentioned is a symbol, which is an AoE that pulses direct damage. These are a series of attacks that connect.
as well as any damage-over-time effects from other weapons, such as symbols.
ZB will trigger whenever your sword hits something. I triggers on the symbol pulses, it triggers, when Binding hits first (but not second), and it triggers on the other skills. It’s most useful with skill 2.

To clarify what Blix mentioned, if you drop a Staff Symbol of Swiftness and then immediately swap to your Greatsword, you will get healed per enemy hit on each remaining pulse of the symbol after you swapped. Same deal with Smite (Scepter 2), and other symbols.

I did not realize that other weapon effect persisting after swap gain the heal from ZB. That is kind of nice in a way for dual symbol drops to tripple up on AE healing.
4 targets, 25 heal per target per a hit:
Whirling wrath (4*9) * 25 = 900 healing
Symbol of Wrath (4*5) * 25 = 500 healing
Symbol of Swiftness (4*5) * 25 = 500 healing
Total = 1900 healing every 16 to 20 seconds.
Don’t have time to compare other healing sources, and the less target the less effective, but sounds decent.
Add on top of that, symbols cause healing with writ of the merciful, or AH and you have some interesting healing going on while using GS.
Drop one tick off of Symbol of Swiftness – you’re guaranteed to miss the first pulse no matter what you do because you are required to be using Staff in order to cast it initially. First hit always deals damage immediately on cast.

Just remember that if there are that many targets for you to hit with the GS and get healing from, there’s also that many targets to hit you back.
This doesn’t matter so much in PvEasy where the mobs are poor, but GS healing won’t sustain you in PvP. ~ You’re generally gonna take anywhere between 2-5k of Retaliation damage when using Whirling Wrath vs that many PvP targets.
Plus all of the general AoE, ground casts and cleave damage to absorb that goes with being a melee in this game.
