help/critique needed for a WvW build
I wouldn’t worry about Signet Mastery as you only have one. I also wouldn’t use a mace while you have Two-Handed Mastery…I use a similar build that is very shout based and has Two-Handed Mastery as well but I use staff/hammer. Greatsword was my go-to weapon for WvW but after using the hammer again, I haven’t gone back as the mobility with the hammer is so much nicer.
If this build is working for you though, stick with it. Everybody is different!
thanks for the reply! I like the cooldown on our main heal too much…makes me feel safer! GS is definitely my main but I also keep a hammer and switch between weapons
food for though, if you zerg fighting a lot maybe drop 5 point in virtues and put in to radiance, people are always dying which will renew justice, moar fire damage moar retal. sense i change to 15 in Radience i can barley keep up with my F1 spam
Hammer is best in WvW, also because you can use Banish to knock down state players towards your team, making it a better guarentee that person dies w/o interruption
as a rule of thumb, is it fair to say that a non bunker/tank warrior needs:
1. at least between 40 and 50 crit chance?
2. at least between 40 and 50 crit damage?
3. around 1800-2000 power?
4. 15k HP?
5. How much toughness….1.5K enough??
does it make sense?
Is it fair to say that a balance build would follow the theory: defensive trait- offensive gear OR offensive traits-defensive gear?
Don’t use Pack, use 5 Citadel and 1 Ruby (in your helmet slot). Virtually the same damage, but you get a massively long Fury out of it which is much better than 5 seconds of Might, Fury, and Swiftness occasionally. I know Pack sounds like an awesome thing but I used it for six months and it seriously doesn’t proc enough to be useful. The only case I would recommend it over Citadel is if you have AH, because it ticks 3×5xAH healing which can be awesome.
Also, use Shelter instead of Signet. Much better in WvW because if/when you get zerged, you can buy yourself some time to get back to safety with the block. If you block more than a few thousand damage you’ve essentially out-healed Signet. Only downside is the potential for an unblockable interrupt but them’s the breaks.
Also, don’t use 2HM, use EM. You only have one two handed weapon and a slight cooldown reduction isn’t going to meaningfully affect your damage with Greatsword, but EM helps you and your group. You could also pick up larger symbols to catch more friendlies in your Regen and Retal symbols.
Edited to add: Also, I would drop Honor entirely. Get 15 Radiance, trait Blind Exposure. You now have a spammable blinding and vulning VoJ. Put the last 5 into Virtues for the 25 minor which is gonna give you a damage boost for all those boons you’ve got through shouts and everything else. Learn to use your blinds to mitigate big hits.
