...retired my guardian.. rolled a thief
yea guard is good class but need many rework (suck trait(zeal trait is complet suck) and some his weapon trait is for smile like +5%DMG IF WARRIOR HAVE +%DMG AND 20%CD RECUDTION) need fix weapon skill (Sword 3 skill/staff 2skill/ shield skill 5/scepter auto attack and 2skill). so almost every class have condition on auto attack and guard have nothing if play defense almost 50/60% dmg come from retaliation and anet still nerfing it so i w8 for patch on 16.11 for new nerf guard need better scale with healing power with 1000hp and 1500hp is small different and some of his skill is useless and his range suck badly this class need complet rework not only nerf in every patch with this class you ca play only defense build because dmg badly suck(die in 5 sec) because guard have low HP/defense vs warrior where without vitality items and trait have normal +24k hp so why anet release class what can be play only as defense/support and then they nerfing this in every patch?????????
Concentrate on the Guardian’s strengths, not it’s weaknesses and you’ll become a much better player. What you’re essentially complaining about are profession perks and asking for the same for the sake that they don’t have it is naive and misinformed.
If you are dying in 5 seconds, you’re simply not utilising your utilities and abilities properly and the nerfs which had hit this profession in the last few patches simply shows that you just don’t know or haven’t dug deep enough into it’s strengths. No offence.
For example, guardians do have auto attack conditions. Burn doesn’t stack but to best utilise this is to place points into traits that improve damage done to burning targets. Some of these traits are not that far into their respective lines so you are not forced to go glass cannon.
Simply doing damage from retaliation alone is lazy gameplay. You should be making an effort to bring your opponent down. Once the issue with burst is sorted, I’m more than happy for Anet to tweak retaliation.
Healing Power not stacking effectively is an issue for all professions. Few traits and skills stack well with healing power but the guardian already has plenty of options for healing which other classes lack.
Warriors have high health and burst for the opposite reason why Guardians have so much healing, Boons and condition removals. Their strengths are there to balance out their weaknesses. The Guardian has enough effective health to easily outlast a warrior in PvP. I can see warriors being maybe more fun in WvsW because of the extra ranged options, but you should take it as a grain of salt compared to what the guardian offers. If you cannot get your head around this, maybe the profession is not for you.
I have always been a thief/rogue in every game I’ve played. Wound up switching to Guardian in BWE, then at launch I went back to Thief. Got my Thief to level 80 and full exotics and spent about 2-3 weeks trying to find an alt to play and am now playing a Guardian again… So, there’s no one right answer for everyone in this game it seems.
I have 26k with a non-Vitality build
Sorry, gotta call you on that. Warrior base hp is 18k. To get to 26k, you’d need ~800 vitality from gear and traits. That’s definitely not a “non-vitality” build, and it’s actually a fairly vitality-heavy build if not entirely vitality-focused. I’d wager that at least half of your gear has vitality on it, and probably more. In sPvP, you’d have to take the Knight’s Amulet (the one with the very highest vitality) or the Soldier’s Amulet (second highest) + Knight’s jewel (highest vit jewel) + Runes with vitality.
Your point is still valid (Warriors have ~8k more health than Guardians), but that’s utter BS right there.
Well now you leave us because we are not op anymore, just crawl back to us when thief get nerf lol
I actually did the opposite – I switched from my lvl 80 Thief to a Guardian. I can say that in pve, Guards are more fun because I have to use all the weapon skills on 2 weapons while with Thief I use 1 or 2 skills on 1 weapon set.
My guard is just sitting around because hes 100% useless in WvW. hes got 1 good skill wall of reflect.
Warrior in WvW is 1000000X better. 2 real ranged options = OWNING!
Warrior with a 2h hammer = CC to death.
You’re misguided at best.
I really suggest you see some good videos on Guardians in WvW. In this forum you will find many examples of good Guardian playing offensive and defensive PvP.
Guardian with Hammer → CC to death. Try it.
To the OP: Let’s hope we meet in sPvP, i bet i will make you revert your change

Your definition of “Vitality Build” is pretty different than mine.
I have 20 points in Tactics for the Longbow buffs and 20% extra boon duration, 20 in Strength, 20 in Arms, 10 in Discipline (for Signet CD reduction).
And I’m using a Soldier Amulet. That doesn’t look like a Vitality build to me.
Main goal was getting 48 sec CD for Signet of Rage with a 36 sec uptime, the other 12 seconds I’ll just make do with proper timing of “For Great Justice” instead.
That’s a full Power Warrior with 50% Crit Chance (since I can get Fury up infinitely), 10% Crit Damage, 2700 Defense, 26k health.
My Guardian unfortunately can’t get close to these stats… so I just play with full Power, 2700 Defense and 20k Health, and crit once per login.
Guard are more useful than people thinkof them, especially in WvW.
-Guards can rush: In WvW im usually at the front of the zerg, cuz it takes about 11 ppl just to kill me, and after about 30 seconds those people are dead dude to the rush.
-Guards are slow: Yeah thats one thing that makes this class balances, all the other classes have high dps, but guards are more for support and annoying damage, in a way like a ranger, but with heavy armor and a little less dmg and ofc slower.
-Guards can kill easily with condition damage: Fire!!!! With fire and a couple of Runes that boost condition damage, your fire will drop opponents health in a matter of seconds. If you construct it right and have the right skills, it relates to the Warrior’s Bleed.
-guards have long lasting buffs: with skills points buffs can last a long time, even thought opponents can debuff you, there are skills that clear these buffs so not much to worry.
-No way guards are OP: i understand how ppl complain how guards can live long, BUT THATS THE POINT! Guards do not exaggerate how long they live, in sPvP the best guard could probably live through killing 5 opponents, but it will be slow, and debuffs and cripple lower the chances of living. my damage is like as much as a lvl 60 thief’s backstab, lol. Which is high for a lvl 60, but against an even lvl it sucks, really.
Theifs V.S. Guard= Guard win, thiefs can only use stealth for a while and backstab…lol there are several ways to push off thiefs and Aoe them right out of thier Hp, but that depends on how fast you are, and if the thief uses certain builds.
Basically the most balanced class is guard, no way Anet could nerf it anymore, and im hoping anet finished balancing this class, im hoping it balances others.
