- Im not saying condition or whatever builds are better than raw-dps builds
- If someone is not using the max-dps build, he is not leeching, maybe he cant play better because he would die then and is contributing at his personal best. That makes him maybe a bad player but not an idiot because he found at least his maximum.
- I haven’t measured times with perfect organized groups vs pug speedruns, but depending on the dungeon the time is not changing thaaat much. And at least for me 5 minutes don’t matter at all. (Sometimes its even faster to hop onto a random group compared to organizing a perfect group, facing the time you would loose by organizing, just saying for all you time maniacs)
- Sure guard can burn dungeons with sword faster, for me I felt like a robot and had not so much fun. But the perception of emotions you get from this game differ from person to person from playstyle to playstyle.
Take it that way, if theres a super-perfect build that will never make u die and you have perfect kill times. All you have to do is only pressing 3 buttons in the same order all the time. Would that be an enjoyment on long-term? Well content right now is pretty much this if youre playing with the right people. And its not really alot fun after two weeks anymore.

Now, what other suggestions do you have for switching between WvW and PvE without gear or trait swapping. You probably don’t need to worry about high end dungeons, because if you’re doing those, you have a specific build in mind probably, this is more for a jack of all trades sort of thing it seems.
WvW builds are pretty focused for specific activities in WvW (See stickied Jax Thread) and even particular stances (defensive vs. offensive). It’s not easy to marry the two together. I can assure you that full DPS wouldn’t be appropriate in WvW and I also think that something like Healway would be much too busy and defensive for PVE.
I see lots of suggestions already near the beginning. If those don’t float your boat, Do the traditional thing with 0/15/30/20/5. Mix of Knights/PVT armor, zerker trinkets. Test it and find your personal flavour.

You’re not going to be able to make a build effective in both WvW and PvE. Use 10/30/0/5/25 or 10/30/0/30/0, full berserker in PvE, and then you could use something like 0/0/30/30/10 in WvW with PVT/knghts. There’s a trainer in each WvW spawn point so retraiting shouldn’t be too tedious to do.

It also depends what you want to do in wvw. Do you want to run with zerg or roam? Also, zerker guardians in spvp are quite popular running 2-3 different type of builds but they are still full zerker (though you still get some bonus vitality) and retraiting costs nothing in comparison to changing gear.
10/30/30/0/0 works in both types of content and is very valid in pve as longs as you deem that you cant keep unscathed contender up for the majority of the battle. I would say its one of the best dps setup in some pve encounters.
And in wvw its probably one of the best burst (competitve) burst build around

So i think you can dress up for both but you will be very limited, in wvw especially.
The only class ive found sigil of strength to be useful on is warhorn necro. Other classes it barely gains enough stacks to warrant taking it (1 second internal cooldown).

If you have 30 in valor it summons them.
10/30/30/0/0 is actually legit just for the DPS. You don’t use AH, though, you use Retributive Armor, Meditation Mastery, and Focused Mind.
The one important thing lacking in this game which makes people want only one build is a way to change your stats without the need to always respec your character. They should implement build switch for a fee each time you switch and it will solve a lot of problems.
I wanted the same things (a kind of all round build). I’ve put together this, which works ok. It has toughness, plus a good crit chance and reasonable crit damage with stacks of might.
It also makes use of the whirling wrath and symbol of wrath damage of the greatsword, with the excellent damage and protection of the sword/focus. With lots of retaliation.
For wvwvw you can try 0/5/30/30/5 or 0/0/30/30/10 AH -shout build
0/0/10/30/30 – Cons Support or 0/0/20/30/20 with 2 runes of traveler /2 monk/2water for stability spam -HTL /VoC/HG

Jax’s guide is for tPvP. Their listed WvW build way over invests into Healing Power and has, as a result, low crit damage, low crit chance, low armor, very low vitality, and low power. It also uses Renewed Focus. There are only two guardian builds in general WvW zergplay where RF is allowed: Hammer/GS JI rings and the driver. That’s it. Everyone else runs Tome of Courage.
