How Should Mesmers *Confuse* an opponent?
Umm not trying to be a jerk or anythin, you do realize that condition mesmer in 1 vs 1 is OP because of all the cripple and confusion. Any build, I mean any build will lose to condition Mesmer in 1 vs 1 in pvp. Try it out and see for yourself. Condition is extremely hard to beat. No doubt.
Phantasm build will beat it. A high condition removal specced mesmer will also beat it.

Phant doesn’t beat confusion. Phant mesmers die really quickly. Shatter is generally the hardest fight.

Sure it does. You only need to use 2 or 3 skills in a phant build vs a confusion mes, and then you can just run in circles.
While I have not done a lot of PvP with my Condition build…I am sure as heck going to say that a any well timed Blink, phase retreat, stealth, or dodge, could get a person out of shatter range easily. Pulling off a shatter build seems to require timing and locking an opponent in place. With that in mind, using iLeap or any other cripple followed by a shatter would work wonders in lining up the shatters. Sure, Phase retreat or blink could still be used, so going for a daze with an OH pistol would flow well into it. Having a hybrid Phantasm/Shatter build actually seems like it would work great against any condition build, as the opponent would have to worry about the phantasms while targeting you, or keeping out of your range.
Just a couple thoughts there.

I’m with Pyro on this, having been the Phantasm Mesmer often enough when trying it: Phantasm Mesmers are very good anti-confusion. They need very few skills, their Phantasms might die from Confusion but too slowly to make them irreplaceable, and their damage is very high without being hindered by the Cripple’s loss of mobility too much.
Phantasm-Mesmers die if they try to attack on top of their Phantasms, but against a condition Mesmer I’d never try that. No need.
And here I was so hoping that we had all learned to ignore him and watched as his post left the front page till he yet again self bumped. Sigh.
