Simple question: is there an effective counter to moa morph in 1vs1?

Normally I just use moa 5 to run away and kite until it wears off. But today I encountered a pistol mesmer how constantly managed to interrupt moa 5 (iirc with magic bullet). He totally owned me twice in 1vs1 with this tactic: brought my health to like 75%, used moa, I use moa 5, he interrupt and 10s later when moa wears off I’m at 10% health and fight is over.

Seriously, is there anything I can do about it? Because if not I will just avoid fighting any mesmers at all in the future.

Moa is a really visible skill with a purple aura kind of eminating from the mesmer. You from there can dodge, block with scepter #2 and sword #4 or blurred frenzy/distortion/daze on pistol and shatter. However this all changes if the mesmer is in stealth when he casts moa, I have no tips from there on other than stealth as well or give a really amazingly timed dodge.

Moa has a massive animation if I recall correctly and is easily dodged/interrupted.

To be honest, I don’t see it much. No one really uses it in WvW (all I play) because its pretty lackluster in big fights.

Thanks, so I have to create a mesmer myself to get a clew how the animation looks like, so I know what I have to dodge.

I never thought moa is a big deal before because moa 5 worked just fine and most mesmers I fought didnt use it at all. But when moa 5 gets interrupted it pretty much looks like a i-win button to me.

Its frustrating because even without moa I really have a hard time against mesmers.

Yeah, you really have to stop the moa going off in the first place in these situations. After that it gets difficult especially if that daze happens. Youtube the moa morph ability and then use your dazes/stuns/evades/stealth/blocks (every class will have most of these available).

I see Moa rarely used in WvW.

At least in PvP the best way to counter Moa is to thrust your claws into your opponents face. Seriously. If you didn’t dodge Moa, peck his eyes out. Most people do not expect you to fight back and the Moa actually deals out some nice damage.
