In Desperate Need of a SPvP Build for Mesmer
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/professions/mesmer/Guide-WvWvW-Pve-Shatter-Cat/
You do put alot of your own oppinions in as facts thu. The " fact that our condition builds are lesser than other classes " are your own opinion and you use it as a fact. I dissagree on this and say a condition mesmer kill a condition necro, and most other classes with exeption wery good engis. A necro is better at keep a point thu and this is the issue for current meta. If you just want to hotjoin and be able to kill any other class while having fun 20-20-30 pu is the best condition build ingame in my opinion ( see what i did there (: ).
I also of the opionion that if you let somone put aoe bleed on you untill you died you did misstakes that could been avoided. So far only burst have been able (burst of cc+ conditions or cc and direct dmg ) to kill me and this is burst from several players. With pu you can anytime stealth and whithdraw, let enemys hit your clones and heal up yourself, use clensings if needed and jump back into combat when you in better condition.

Heh well Osicat is one of the top Mesmers in the game, and he has good builds of all sorts, all of them viable as he proves in his many videos on YouTube.
You specifically asked for sPvP, and quite frankly you’re very wrong about most of the assumptions you make concerning Mesmers in sPvP. I beat the vast majority of Necros with a very similar build to the one he gave you, and Thieves are a mere joke 9 times out of 10.
The key to the above build is that you can’t hit what you can’t see. When you do come out of stealth, you’re usually loaded with Aegis, Protection, and Regen and can take quite a bit of heat. You have 2 condi cleanses from Torch, and plenty of condition damage output (Torment + Bleed + a lil’ Burning) to overwhelm even the toughest classes if played well.
It’s a fantastic 1v1 and even 2v1 build in sPvP because you have a load of Toughness on top of stealth, and the PU boons to make you a really exceptionally difficult target to kill. I can also escape from just about any situation alive, no matter how bad.
I’ve run into GC Thieves with their supposedly high burst, and dropped them so fast they didn’t even know what had hit them. Only the tankier ones can even stay alive long enough to figure out that I’m not a Shatter nor a Phantasm Mesmer.
Condi Mesmers are fine, in sPvP at least, and so are Phantasm Mesmers and well-played Shatter Mesmers.
The last being the hardest to excel at in the current meta IMO…but TBH I fear a good Shatter Mesmer more then any other profession (save maybe a very good Necro) against the above build. If I’m on my game he has no chance, but if gets the drop on me and I fat-finger at the start of the fight, then you get dropped so fast it makes your head spin. One good shatter+BF burst can take me to like <33% health if I’m not careful to avoid it.
In tPvP I can buy that Mesmers are having issues…and I hope Anet addresses some of our weaknesses there.
Necro, Spirit Ranger, Engi, s/d thief

@Zarfin, a core of the setup is that alot of your dmg id done by your clones and phantasms. If you for example run iduelist+ sword you want to start attack in stealth by summon iDuelist, swap to torch /scepter. Hit torch still in stealth while your duelist attack the target who by now take dmg without even know wher you are. Go close to him, summon a image and start septer nr 3, this add 8 stacks och confusion, ~3k direct dmg + tortch burn. You now rewealed, but as enemy conuter attack hes hevay preasured by confusiona nd conditions, if he attack you block and apply torment, then swap to sword and do a 2 sec immunity and blink away, hit massinvis or decoy + summon a new iduelist as soon its off cd.
This is just a example but a often use tactic when you have pistol. Staff need another aproach as you dont wanr revealed but have better defense.
Also remeber, leap thru veil for chaos armour.

It’s a sad day when you realize Osicat hasn’t read the patch changes that have been out for over a day.
Veil has been fixed to be a light field as it shows in description. Leap will grant retaliation, which is also good. (I am making assumption they actually changed it and not just said they did…)
Edit: lol, reading post he made 6 min later where he notes the changes to veil…

For tournies and high rated play I suggest a necro, guardian, thief or ranger.
For low rated spvp phantasm mesmer should still work fine in 1v1 fights (pointless). 10/30/0/0/30 works, as does 10/30/0/25/0.
Interesting post, even if it lacks paragraph breaks. I think it’s representational of my frustation as well over the last few major patches where the mesmer’s weakness is hard to verbalize concisely.
I’ve been playing a lot of spvp and fractals lately with the occasional tpvp match when I get some guildies together. I’ve also done some sporadic dueling on dueling arenas as well. I’ve specifically watched, like you have, for winning mesmer builds. One thing I’ve noticed is that of the few mesmer left some still run the old standard glkittenter build of 20/0/0/20/30. They struggle quite a bit and pure phantasm builds seem non-existant. Another thing I’ve noticed is that most of the successful builds are usually based on the 20/20/30/0/0 starting point.
20/20/30 became very viable after the PU buff and IC nerf. Pure phantasm or pure shatter builds simply didn’t maximize our potential as much as they once had. I was running the 20/20/30 for a while mainly so I could trait Torch, DE, and PU. It seemed the obvious combination. I then saw Keenlam’s post and build here
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/professions/mesmer/condition-build-The-Clone-Spammer/first
that was a build based on our “clone kill” mechanic. Not too long after I dueled a mesmer who had a “clone kill” build that outperformed my power stealth 20/20/30 build. I didn’t see his build, but, I focused on making a build based both on clone kill and our core 20/20/30.
I came up with this eventually
http://intothemists.com/guides/426-prismatic_clone_factory
One variation of this that has more notes is this build:
http://intothemists.com/guides/421-omni_mesmer
For that omni build I’d swap Master of Manipulation to Debilitating Dissapation. Debilitating Dissapation is very powerful for a clone-kill build and seems to be the most effective clone-kill trait we have.
I am looking at possibly adjusting my weapons on that clone factory build to scepter/sword + sword/torch for a bit more damage and conditions. That or I’ll dump sword altogether and run Staff + Scepter/Torch… and not have any weapons traited…
