I have 600 crystalline saved up and I love using my Mesmer.
Just nervous about actually spending that much crystalline.
Are the leadership runes truly the best rune a Mesmer can use?

For raids and high fractals? Yep. For WvW? Nope. For open world/dungeons? Doesn’t matter.

Here’s the deal, leadership runes beat most other runes for mesmer due to the high itemisation value from direct boon duration. 30% boon duration is equal to 450 stat points worth of concentration (15 conc = 1% boon duration). For mesmer that’s pure gold since our main role is support in group enviroments in pve.

If you play fractals or fractals and raids, it’s a good investment (and should go in berserker armor, worst case commanders armor).

If you only play open world pve, occasionally fractals and dungeons, the runes might be a tad overkill and to expensive. Other runes will outperform leadership runes in any solo or non group content.

I guess then my only other question would be, is there something else that would be of better use to purchase with the crystalline? I don’t see that there is

I would personally hold on to it. Who knows what additions might come bevor the next expansion and especially with the expansion.

There is a multitude of recepies and minis besides the insignias/inscriptions and runes (the most interesting probably being Commanders).

Or if you to start playing more regular fractals and especially raids in the future, you could always buy the runes then.

I would save it personally, I’m currently doing WvW ranks to get to 55 so I can buy the runes and HoT insignias with proof of heroics.

You need the crystalline ore for maguuma legendaries and IMO the stuff is so time consuming to farm you’re better off going through the 55 WvW ranks, if you have some xp boosters and celebration boosters and use guild banners e.t.c. it shouldn’t take you long and you’ll have tonnes of heroics left over to use on inscriptions.

Also you will get reward tracks done, WvW tickets and badges of honor. I think it’s a much more rewarding way to get the runes even if it takes the same time/longer.

This so much. Keep your crystalline ore and spent some WvW tokens later in. It is really easy to earn the Proof of Heroics in WvW and quite fun in my opinion aswell.
